FW and I decided we didn't want to do tuxes for a couple reasons.
1) FW didn't want a super formal wedding 2) FW likes me better in a suit w/long tie 3) We figured we could save the fellas money, because hey, who doesn't have a black suit, right?
Turns out, the answer to question number three is ALMOST ALL OF MY GROOMSMEN!
Oy.
(on a ranty sidenote, how the hell do you get through life without a black suit? formal events, religious events, affairs, funerals, etc? How is this possible?)
Anyway, what are your thoughts on what we should do? Some have expressed interest in buying a suit anyway, but not all of them have.

My guys don't have matching suits either. So...I don't know what they're going to wear. My FH is talking about buying a tan suit for our summer wedding, which is fine with me, I like the look. The other guys will all be in different suits--none of them are guys who wear suits to work every day, so they have one gray or black or navy suit for funerals and job interviews. I guess I'm having an assortment!
Anyway, guys can rent suits, you know, not just tuxes. I believe Jim's Formalwear (I think it's 'Jim's') does it, and so does Men's Wearhouse, according to my FH. If you don't want tuxes but you want them to match, have them rent black suits. Or navy is also a nice choice for a more casual wedding.

get them all to SYMS and get matching black suits. If you're buying several, they may cut you a deal. they did for my friend!

i voted tuxes but was just thinking... I went to a wedding over the weekend and the groomsmen all wore suits and none of them matched - one was gray another pinstripe, etc... they looked great - it also didn't hurt that they were all hot soccer players... but it really did look nice and gave a different effect tahn tuxes.... plus they didnt wear ties and left their shirts open - they were going for a casual feel...

First ask the guys if they want to purchase bacl suits, if not have them rent them from Mens' warehouse or something. BTW: FH and the guys are wearing tux's with long ties, but with the vests. It looks really nice on them. I like the long tie look better.

I think that FW likes the long tie look better as well, which is why she and I agreed to do suits. hrm.

I say go witht he suits... thats what we're doing.. FH got a nice black suit with stripes (hard to explain, just different toned black stripes...theres a crappy pic in my album) and his bestman is just going to wear a black suit he already has.
