Re: Paint...
Everyone has affered great advice. Benjamin Moore is good, but we have used Lowe's Valspar brand and have loved it.
Suzanne, we had kids in mind when we purchased our furniture and we chose dark brown as well. We painted our living room a light shade of brown - - not quite tan, definitely not brown or beige. THere are pictures of it on the thread about hi ranch owners and renovating the entry way.
ETA: We also removed lots of paneling!! To our surprise, the walls were sheetrocked underneath and all we had to do was spackle over the nail holes in it and prime and paint. What a difference!!

Re: Paint...
Under the DR panneling we found wall paper on the upper 1/2 of the wall, a space midway down the wall with no sheet rock where a chair rail must have been and this cedar panneling on the lower protion of the wall. It all came out and new sheet rock went up.

Re: Paint...
I LOVE Benjamin Moore. M brother's friend is a professional painter, and that is all he uses.

Re: Paint...
I don't know about these things, but DH is a contractor and he swears by Benjamin Moore or Pratt and Lambert!!! He always complains about RL and Behr paint coverage.

Re: Paint...
I heard that Lowe's own paint is great bUt I never used it. Our painter told us Ben Moore is the best and I loved the colors. Truthfully, I have no idea about paint qualities, I havent painted enough to know the deal personally.
Question: Has anyone else had to pay extra for colors to be added to the base paint? When we bought our paint, they changed extra for the color and since two of them were darker, it was a few dollars more extra. I was curious if that is the norm?
