Paint color and molding

Paint color and molding

I am finally preparing to repaint our DR/LR but am not sure what to do. It's is currently a faux finish white/grey and we are going to do one wall burgundy and the others a beige color. I've seen some photos of this and love the look!!! (on this site!!) I'm just concerned becasue I have really old worn wood moldings. I know I can replace the moldings with a wood color (I have lightish hardwood floors) but would the molding look better white? I've never really seen the burgundy with wood moldings. MY other concern is if I replace the moldings, I'm not sure if they replace the wood in the windows. DOes anyone know or have a picture of wood moldings with burgundy? I hope someone knows what I mean. I'l ltry and add pictures once my digital camera is charges

Re: Paint color and molding

do you mean stained wood molding, no paint? why can't you sand the current molding and then use a high gloss white/ivory paint color? if the current moldings are not salvageable, replace w/ new moldings (it's not that expensive). it is a personal choice but i would paint the trim (moldings) the same color as the ceiling but in semi or high gloss. another option is paint the trim a slighter 'warmer' color then the ceiling.

the house we are buying has rosey colored walls (LR & DR) w/ white high gloss trim. we plan to repaint the walls (IMO, too rosey) but i will post a pic.
