do you paint outlet covers and radiators the same color as the walls?
i took pics of the different rooms we painted and sent them to my sister. she was surprised that we painted these items. most of our colors are warm so we didn't want the outlets and radiators to stand out, we wanted them to blend.
is this wierd?

Re: painting outlet covers and radiators
I have painted all my radiators white in the house. I bought all my outlet covers so they have never been painted.

it depends on the color... some outlets still look good in white (as long as the cover is not dirty)

We kept some white but in the kitchen the paint is a very pale yellow so we painted the radiator the same color.

I spray painted all our radiators white. We have a lot of thick moulding in the house, which is also white, so it matches. We changed the outlet covers to white ones too. I don't think it's a good idea to paint them because the paint would crack or chip too easily.

I don't like painting outlets or the covers. We get nice white ones to match the trim. I would paint the radiators white also b/c I like that look.

We painted the radiators with Rustoleum in a white (be careful you don't get it on your fingernails!) and the outlet covers we bought white ones

Re: painting outlet covers and radiators
My dad took a textured spray paint that looks like rust-colored granite when it dries and painted all the covers in his bedroom and it looks awesome.
ETA: We painted all our radiators the same color as the walls, as they really needed a fresh coat of paint.

Re: painting outlet covers and radiators
funny you should ask... We just stripped the paint off of our radiator covers. I primed them with white rustoleum, but haven't painted them yet. (We are still spackling in the rooms and aren't ready to paint yet.)
At first I was going to paint them white- because that's how it was in my parents house before they converted to baseboard heating. However, I think I might actually paint them the same colors as the walls. They are under the windows, and I am planning to hang long curtains. I think that they might stick out more if they are white.
But I (personally) wouldn't paint the outlet covers. I would replace them if they are in bad condition.

we bought all new ones... i like the way they add contrast... i do have a friend who paints them, because she dosnt like them sticking out... it really is just a personal preference...

Re: painting outlet covers and radiators
We painted the radiator covers the same color of the walls, and the outlet covers are unpainted (white)
I think it comes down to a matter of wanting to either draw attention to them or to make them 'disappear'.
I want them to disappear, big time!
