Painting question...

We can't do anything right now, but I was wondering... The house we bought is older, so on the inside around all the windows and all the moldings are a dark brown wood. I would like to paint the molding and stuff so it looks more modern. We're going to have to replace the doors, and cabinets at some point because they're dark wood also. Has anyone done this, and do you think it would look nice? I guess we would just paint it the same color as the walls, right? The wood fits the house now, since it's older, but I really like a more modern house, you know! The floors are are a darker hard wood, but I don't think that would matter. What do you think?

I painted window molding that was a dark wood. You will have to prime it first. I painted it white, with one coat of primer and 2 coats of paint.

Re: Painting question...

I have cedar floors in my bedroom, and cherry floors in my dining room. Both rooms have ivory mouldings and it looks fine. They also match the crown moulding and the floor mouldings.

I did have to prime the windoes before I painted them, and it took 2 coats of paint.
