Re: Paleo thread

Awesome idea! Love Paleo! Everyday Paleo is my favorite website and cookbook. Even if you don't follow the Paleo lifestyle, the recipes are soooo good and a lot of them are very easy!
Trader Joe's has been the BEST place to shop while on Paleo, I find. Grass fed beef, organic veggies, free range...it just makes following Paleo so easy!

Paleo thread

Whole foods is fantastic too!

I love the site www.nomnompaleo.com

And of course just googling paleo in Pinterest comes up w the best ideas!

My favorite recipe is my chocolate almond bark

1 bag dark chocolate chips (must be over 70%) get at whole foods
1cup almonds
Cinnamon
Nutmeg
Agave nectar
Coconut oil
Sea salt

Take 2 tbs coconut oil, 1 tsp cinnamon , 1 tsp nutmeg, and 1/4 cup agave nectar. Simmer in sautéed pan until flavors are blended together ( you can add more spices as needed) once blended add almonds and simmer until fully coated. Set almonds aside.

In the same pan melt the chocolate on very low heat! Constantly stirring to make sure it doesn't burn. You can add more cinnamon nutmeg and agave as desired.

Take the chocolate and pour it into a shallow pan. Even it out and then evenly pour the almonds on top. Sprinkle the top with a very small amount of sea salt.

Place in fridge or freezer until solid again. dONe!
You can also add coconut flakes for an extra touch. Tastes just like an almond joy!!
** this melts very fast so be sure to keep in a cool place.

This is great for that after dinner sweet tooth or that mid afternoon crash

It's also known as the caveman diet. No processed foods.
Fruits, veggies, some nuts/seeds, protein.

'What is a Paleo Diet?
A Paleo diet, also known as paleolithic diet or caveman diet, is all about natural foods to help achieve great health and a perfect physique. The human body evolved for more than 2 million years with the food found in nature: game meat, fish, vegetables, wild fruits, eggs and nuts. The human race was thriving on this diet high in animal fat and proteins and low in carbohydrates, but things changed when we introduced unnatural foods to our bodies.'

It's not easy but definitely not impossible. It's an adjustment. I don't feel hungry. I definitely eat enough. You just have to choose the right foods to satisfy you.
I love pizza so for me, not having that is hard. You can make pizza so it's 'paleo friendly' but its not as easy as calling up for a delivery.
I also like bread but I avoid it. If I make it myself though, its ok. So there are definitely things you can do to stay within the lifestyle and still eat things you love.

Your also going to realize once you cleanse yor body from the toxins of bread sugar and dairy, when you do eat it you will feel different. Lethargic and achy. It will make you not want to eat the bad stuff anymore. It's a lifestyle change not just a 'diet

Also I have done it since October and already lost 10 lbs easily and haven't been fully100% paleo.. I still drink on wkns

But this IS a diet that you can have red wine and tequila!

This diet sounds awesome! I need to loose about 10 pounds but...

I am a Vegetarian... do you think it would be harder for me to stay on? I do occasionally eat organic chicken but thats about it.
