Palladium vs platinum?

Palladium vs platinum?

I am getting my e-ring re-set because the white gold it was made out of keeps turning yellow, and I would have to re-dip it every 2 months or so for it to stay white. I am considering getting it made out of palladium instead of platinum because the price is cheaper but apparently it's not too much different. Does anyone have a palladium ring? How has it worn? Any problems? Anything you don't like?

TIA!

My rings are platinum BUT my husbands wedding band is palladium-and so far so good!! Me personally, I'd spend the extra money on the platinum for your own rings-Go cheaper for your hubby!

Wish I could - but the difference is $800. I just don't have that now, and my ring is already at the jeweler's, white gold sold already. (I didn't know it was going to be that much!) From what I have read, palladium is almost identical to platinum but a ton cheaper. Glad to hear your husband's band is doing well, that's the kind of info I am looking for.

Yeah-theres DEF a huge difference in price! My husbands band in patinum was $1400 and only $750 in palladium!!!

Like I said- its still perfect and he's been wearing it everyday for the past 9 months!! DEF go for the palladium then!! No one will even know the difference!

GOOD LUCK!!

I don't have experience with it - but I've heard great things about it... I'd go with palladium.

Mine was white gold, and what they dip it in is rhodium, which is liquid platinum, according to my jeweler. I think whatever they dip it in will still wear / turn yellow because it's not 100% pall or plat. Whether it turns yellow or how fast it turns all depends on your skin chemistry - guess we both have the sam screwed up chemistry, dom fun isn't it?

it is a precious medal, like platinum, that is very similar but costs less.

Anybody else have info on palladium?

palladium is used in most dental (i KNEW studying would come in handy!) materials because of the similar properties to platinum but the lower cost. Its readily available and not rare like platinum, which is why it is cheaper. It doesn't need to be dipped in rhodium because it is truly white (depending on the mixture...) and MUCH harder than gold. It is actually in the mixture of some gold compounds. Slight risk of corrosion and tarnish with repeated working (which is unlikely with a ring) and MUCH easier to work with than platinum (also factoring into the cost). Similar look, still a noble metal, so if you don't mind not having the name of platinum, this is the choice for you.

My friend has had a palladium e-ring for a year now and she's had no issues and it's worn well.

My ring is palladium, but I've only had it for a month now ! No problems though, you can def tell the difference between white gold- it looks a lot like platinum! I didn't know what it was either until my FH gave me the ring and was telling me everything about it. I don't have the paper work on me at the moment with all the information but I will look for it when I get home and post again with the info. The jeweler promised him it would be a great metal, and that nothing would go wrong. I know it was a lot cheaper than the platinum, but def more expensive than the white gold.
