I just put together a mock budget and I am about to hyperventilate! I can not believe how quickly everything adds up! I have completely used up what we have potentially budgeted and I still have not included the rehearsal dinner, gifts for the parents and I seriously low balled a lot of things like limos and flowers!
Sorry...just needed to vent! Now I need a drink!

Re: Panic Attack
Yeah definitely breathe, you can do a lot of DIY and it will help cut down costs. If you fall in love with something, then maybe it makes spending the extra money worth it.

Re: Panic Attack
You definitely have a lot of time to shop around and also to save. I saw you mentioned the rehersal dinner, not sure if its customary for you and your FH but I think usually the grooms parents pick up the cost of that.

Re: Panic Attack
i was def overwhelmed with my 'budget' but decided id cut corners where i could and as i started going to talk to vendors i noticed some of my estimates were a lot higher than i guessed... only problem is you have to make sure you dont take that savings and spend it on something else haha.
and this is what this site is for.. to help each other out and save money as we have fun!!

Re: Panic Attack
Take a step back and breath.
Figure out what is necessary and what is not. Cut out the things that are not necessary. Remember you do not want to start off your married life with a lot of debt. It is not worth it.

Re: Panic Attack
We wrote down numbers the other day & what we came up with was ridiculous!!!!
I'm thinking to myself how can we afford a wedding that costs this much!!! OMG
I guess when you pay a little here & a little there it's not as bad as it looks on paper!
PHEW!!!

I feel the same way. I wonder how am I going to get this all done. As time goes on I am sure it will get worse. Just be positive and believe that you will get everything done.

Re: Panic Attack
I totally understand your anxiety! I have it too. But like some of the other girls said, you have time to make payments.
If you need any info on good vendor pricing just ask any of us! I find when i post a question i get a TON of awesome responses!

Re: Panic Attack
I think every bride goes through this! Just relax, it will all fall into place. You can DIY many things and cut back on things that aren't necessary. (we had to eliminate the photo booth )

Re: Panic Attack
ugh...this is ALL I THINK ABOUT lately!! I know the stress will lessen once I sell my condo and FH and I can truely start to save (w/out paying 2 of everything) but until then...I continue to stress hard about it.
For us, we are just trying to keep in mind what our priorities are. I have our budget on excell and i'm doing our estimated vs. actual for each vendor. I hope i remembered all of the categories...

Re: Panic Attack
Thanks everyone! I know I just have to breathe and all...and I am definitely the kind of person who will search for deals but this first initial stab at a budget was just scary! My FH and I are putting money away with each paycheck we get so we kno what we will have by the time the day rolls around...it's just we didn't want to spend it all, but i would rather pay for everything and start with a clean slate than with piles of debt!
And as for the rehearsal dinner, FH and I are paying for everything. His parents have already shelled out for the E-party as well as his side of the family for the reception (135 people). So we are getting the rest! I think i just need to rob a bank...lol!
