Pants Suit to an Interview

I am currently employed and really hating my present job. I gotten some leads for potential interviews. It's November and getting colder here in New York City as winter has just begun. Personally, I hate winter and get sick very easily. I've wore skirts that are knee-length for 5 years of Catholic school in my life and gotten sick numerous times. It's no picnic being sick. As a woman interviewing, do you think a pant suit is okay for an interview? I'm not going for jobs that are very corporate or executive positions. I'm going for jobs that are mid-career of 5 years of marketing experience.

Pant suit or a skirt suit to an interview for a woman?

Re: Pants Suit to an Interview

I have always worn pants suits. I think it is sexist to expect a woman to wear a skirt suit.

Re: Pants Suit to an Interview

I think a polished pantsuit is fine. Too many woman think pants and a blazer is a suit and it is not...make it a real pants suit.

Re: Pants Suit to an Interview

As long as you are put together in a professional sense, yes, it is fine. And Niecey is correct, make it a real 'pants suit', not a blazer and pants. A pair of pearl earrings as well, and a nice manicure ---

I have always worn pant suits to interviews. They are very accepted today for women to wear.

Re: Pants Suit to an Interview

As a career counselor we tell our students it depends on where the interview is - if its in a very old school corporate office (ie., accounting types), then it should be a skirt suit, otherwise pants are fine...but I agree with other posters - it needs to be a suit, not just a blazer and slacks.
