Papal Pope's Blessing Received

I received in the mail today 2 autographed letters in the mail plus the pope's blessing for our Vow Blessing Ceramony...

aww! Sooo nice! When did you mail it!? Did you send one of your actual invitations? Or a request?

Congratulations! That's something you'll have forever! Don't forget to bring it with you the day of the wedding (my brother had it, and forgot to bring it on the wedding day! oops!). Put it on the 'To Bring' list now!)

You still can just send him a letter asking him to 'Bless Your Marriage Vows'

I wrote a nice letter and mailed it along with my invitation about 4 wks ago to the pope in Italy.

To get an OFFICIAL papal blessing you need to contact the Chancery's Office in your diocese...www.drvc.org.
there is paperwork you have to fill out and that your parish priest has to sign and a small fee involved...there is no need ot send an invitation.

I didn;t know you had to have a parish priest fill it out...did everyone else do this??

As far as I know, this is the only way it is legitimately blessed by the pope. Only couples who are BOTH Catholic can get this papal blessing. When this is done, a blessing is mailed to you so you'll have it in time for the wedding and it is usually read by the priest or deacon at your Mass or ceremony. It is also on a paper that is signed by someone at the Vatican with both your names on it that is suitable for framing.

Both partners must be Catholic for this blessing. You can find out more information and download the application at www.drvc.org. Look under the Chancery office.

All I Spent was 84 cents in shipping to Italy and sent a small letter with the invitation 4 weeks ago to the Italy Address of the Vatican and I received the Blessing plus 2 photos from the dicoses.

I got an official Blessing from the papal, It gets sent directly to you, you can have the priest read it.

Why pay when you can get it like this for italy postage and an invitation and letter.

Yeah......Our priest is FH's uncle. He also told us we had to do it through the chancery. We definitely want to do this because I just think its wonderful to have.
