So when you have to cut something that's 5' x 7' down to 4.5' x 6.5', do you cut 1/2 inch off of each side, or 1/4 inch from each side? I'm thinking 1/4 inch, but I could be wrong.
DIY girls out there, help!!!!

Re: paper cutting question
did you buy the paper already, and paper cutter or you still have to purchase it? the reason i ask is bc alot of stationary stores will cut the paper for you and takes them 5 mins, and saves you tons of time
i wouldnt cut just any side bc the part that has to be 4.5 needs to be 4.5. So i would cut off exactly that to get the 5 down to 4.5 and the 7 down to 6.5. So i would measure it first to get to the point where it is 4.5 and make a line with a pencil lightly and cut right on it so you get it exactly at 4.5

Re: paper cutting question
I haven't cut it yet, but I do have it in my hands. I was also thinking about asking one of the art teachers in my schools (I teach in 2) to either help me with cutting this paper OR to let me spend some time after school one day cutting paper in their room.
The reason why I was thinking that I should take off 1/4 inch from each side is because if I cut 1/2 inch from one side, it would make what I'm cutting look REALLY lopsided. I'm going to take your advice and cut down the paper to where it needs to be in order to measure exactly 4.5' x 6.5'.

do you have a paper cutter? Youre not cutting it with a scissor right?
but also what you can do is bring it back to the store and ask them to cut it for you. For my eparty menu's i bought a paper cutter but even with that took long, the one at the stores are much better and they do them all at one time. I was only charged $6 to do ALL my cardstock
well its going to be at the measurements you want it to be so shouldnt look lopsided ya know.

Re: paper cutting question
I just figured out how cutting it would work. I just have to cut each side of the card 1/4 inch to make it work. And yes, the art teachers all have paper cutters in their rooms, so I am DEFINITELY not going to trust myself with a scissor.
