Hi everyone, this photographer selection process is brutal for me....it all looks the same after a while! What are your opinions on parent albums? Worth the money or do it yourself later????
Does anyone know what real advantages traditional albums have over digital albums or is it just a matter of taste? Thanks...

Re: Parent Albums....
I don't know very much, but what my photographer said is this: Digital has better quality it's sharper. Plus, they can click away which means more choices for you. If you do a traditional album, digital or film, it will probably have the pages where you insert the pics (and its usually a set amount, mine is 20 or something). W/ digital, you can make a storybook album (like mine that actually contains 80 pics) and it will have a more photojournalistic feel to it, along w/ your trad. poses. We went for the storybook (which is expensive) for us, and our parents will get traditional albums. HTH!!!!

to me, its more important to spend the extra money now to hire a great photographer, and then make the parent albums later once we have more money.
i guess i'm more traditional when it comes to photography, but i personally like mounted albums better.

Re: Parent Albums....
My parent albums come w/ my package, but on OFOTO they have these really nice bound albums that they make now. from what i understand you can customize colors, layouts, captions, and more....so that may not be a bad way to go...

Re: Parent Albums....
I'm just getting the flush album for us, but I do get all my negatives on a cd, so I will be making a parent album for each of the parents. That was my biggest thing when deciding on a photographer. I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to spend a whole bunch of money and not get the negatives. HTH!

Re: Parent Albums....
I prefer digital.... more shots available. And as for parent albums... I think they are a dust collector in the making. My mom agrees, she just wants a portrait. His mom HAS to have one.

Re: Parent Albums....
we looked at 2 photographers and both had parent albums included in there packages. I wouldve gotten them anyway i think, just to say thank you.
We had traditional film and the pics are being put on the pages, not inset in something. I think digital is cool, the only problemis sometimes they dont give you paper proofs, just on CD and i didnt like that

Re: Parent Albums....
We went all out for our photographer..we have 3 photographers and a lighting assistant, we chose a digital album, and they are making mini clones of our albums for our parents albums at no cost to us(I think its because we are spending so much with them) The mini albums are awesome, they are the exact thing as our digital album, but small!
oh and we get all the proofs, and all of the pictures on a cd

My Mom and FMIL told me to just get them copies and then we will do a framed collage. My brother did it and it is so nice hanging on the wall, in my opinion people look at albums less frequently than they would a hanging pic.
HTH
P.S. Check out Christina Bohn, she does a la carte pricing so you can choose after the fact. And I totally know what you mean about it all looking the same after awhile!

Re: Parent Albums....
We have 4 sets of parents (both our parents are divorced and both Dad's are remarried) so we worked it out to get 4 smaller parent albums for them.
Our photographer uses film but then scans all the photos so we get both negatives and the CD with pictures.

Re: Parent Albums....
IMO, digital album vs traditional album is strictly a matter of personal preference. As for parent albums, my mother would be totally upset if she didn't get one, his mother doesn't care one way or the other. They are included in our package, and I think his mom will change her mind when it comes time for her to look through the proofs and pick what she likes.

Re: Parent Albums....
I think if your paying for your own wedding and the parent albums just don't met your budget skip them and get a brag book or CD with pics. Then you can make your own album too!
If the parents are helping they may get a little offended suck it up and get them!

Re: Parent Albums....
So my parents got a parent album at my oldest brothers wedding from the photographer and not a professionsal one from my second oldest brother... she was not happy the second time... she liked having the ability to go through the proofs and pick the ones that she felt were important...
