Parent albums?

Parent albums?

Hi ladies,
My fiancée's parents are divorced, so we will need three parent albums instead of two. I am kind of frightened at how expensive this is going to become!

How much did you ladies pay for each of your parent albums? Also, did you pay or did the parents pay?

I am scared..... lol

I'm doing parent albums and they are actually very nice....they are mini replicas of our books.. but they are part of the package. I'm not sure how much they cost individually.

EK didnt even think about this

My family is happy with shutterfly albums. We arent even sure if we are going to get our own album from our photographer since its insanely priced

our parent albums were included in our photography package so i don't know how much they came out to individually.
however, my BIL's parents are divorced and my sister had to pay extra to get a 3rd album

Ours are part of our package. WE are paying for them as a gift to our parents. You'd have to ask. I'd assume a few hundred for another album.

Don't forget that you usually pay for 1/2 of the photographer AFTER the wedding when you pick up proofs. You can also add the albums on later to save on the outlay before the wedding

i think traditionally the bride & groom pay for the parent album. You dont have to get them through the photographer though, there are a lot of sites out there that you can upload photos to and make them yourself.
My parents are divorced too so the photographer quoted us for 2 and when i said i needed 3 he said he would throw it in

I am not getting albums made, I am making a scrapbook for us and we bought beautiful photo albums from target for the families. But the small samily albums from my photographer were only 80 dollars and we picked the photos (we could custom each one) the slightly bigger ones were only 120? I think. We are putting together albums for the grandparents too ,

Re: Parent albums?

Thanks everyone! I like the idea of doing it through a website but I am worried about offending the FILs, whose son ordered them the fancy ones through their photog.

One photographer that I am really interested in charges 700+ per parent album.... that's 2100 just on parent albums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am worried that I will end up having to settle on a photographer whose work I don't like as much, to compensate for the cost of the albums.

Re: Parent albums?

Seriously... DONT DARE settle on someone you dont like... the IL's will deal with not having something traditional... this is YOUR WEDDING not theirs...

Don't settle! Do the website, if you offend people because you didn't have the money to spend that's their problem not yours!

Dont feel like you have to settle. There are so many websites where, as long as u have the rights to your photos, you can design and order albums for your parents.

Re: Parent albums?

Thanks for the support gals! Now I see why it's so easy to become a forum addict lol.

I just did some searching and found a website where it looks like I could order the more sturdy albums at a more reasonable fee. I also love the canvas gallery wraps, and those aren't too bad either....

(http://www.nationsphotolab.com/ in case anyone wanted to look also.... haven't used them yet obviously so I can't vouch for them, but it's something I am strongly considering!)

Thanks again for the support! BTW, for people still shopping for photographers, the photographer I was really impressed with is named John Lo. Haven't seen him used on here, but I loved his pics in his blog and on his website. His style is very raw and real. One of my pet-peeves is over-photoshopped pics and he doesn't over-edit the photos. He is such a doll in emails, also lol.

Thanks again girlies. :)

FH's parents are divorced and we'll be doing the same thing as other girls mentioned for our 3 parents' albums...probably shutterfly or something similar. Photography is expensive enough without adding three albums.

we are making our parents albums through Shutterfly.com once we get our proofs back.

The price for my photographer included the parent albums and he even told me that if there were divorced parents, he would have thrown in the extra album for no charge

Re: Parent albums?

I think the album format you pick also affects the price. I think the coffee table style books are cheaper to reprint than the other kind? Clearly I'm not completely sure what I am talking about, but I did read something (more eloquently written) to that effect.

This. Sometimes you just have to ask and they'll throw it in for free.

I just posted this for someone elses question. Theres a place called Epixel in Elmont that does amazing work, ot this place in West Hempstead link

If they are from from you, i can tell you the quality of their printing and albums is def worth it and you can customize it and go for a cheaper option, or you can ask them to pay for it themselves, unless they are helping you pay with a lot of the wedding, then i doubt they'd mind.
