Parent Dances... I asked this a long time ago, but...

we're still undecided. What do you think about having the Mother/Son, Father/Daughter dance at the same time? I'm really nervous about dancing with my father alone on the dance floor. (Many reasons why) Do you think it's strange, or have you been to weddings where they've done this??? Thanks!

Parent Dances... I asked this a long time ago, but...

I think it's a great idea to do them at the same time. I will most likely do mine like that.

I've never seen it, but....

it sounds like a great idea! Why not? Then maybe you can dance the whole song. You know how they usually cut the song? That stinks! Lisa

RU Serious?

Its a nice idea. Thats it. Not because it saves time or because you worry about boring people with 2 long slow dances. Really! I think that guests can endure 10 minutes of so called boredom for the bride and groom to honor their father and mother if they want to do it that way.

RU Serious? actually...I am!

I never said everyone gets bored with both dances, I said I DO. I choose to have them combined. I get bored having to watch one dance and then another slow dance. If you like the seperate dances then do it that way. I am simply stating my personal opinion!!

What is wrong with considering the enjoyment of your guests?

I don't understand why its such a crime to say something is boring for guests to watch. Everyone here has been in attendence at a wedding where the dances, speaches, or something else was too long/boring. A good wedding isn't one where the bride and groom are blissfully ignorant of their guests!

parent dances

we will probably do them at the same time too, and our opinion is that we don't think that's it would be honoring our parents any less if they are at the same time. we also don't want to bore our guests and we would feel less pressure of having all eyes on 2 at a time vs. 4 at a time.

RU Serious?

I didnt say its honoring them any less to combine the dance. I also didnt say not to care about your guests and their enjoyment. I just dont think it should be the reason to combine the dances. Im sure there are things that each of us are doing at our wedding beside these dances that we are sure is charming and our guests will find boring or wasteful. Do your wedding the way you want.

I had mentioned combining and FMIL flipped...

I had mentioned combining the parents dances for alot of the reasons everyone had mentioned and she (FMIL) flipped. She said it wouldn't be as special for her if I was dancing with my father at the same time. I disagree, but to keep peace we will have them seperate.

My FMIL feels the same way...

But my FI told her, it's our wedding. Not in a mean way of course. We're not sure if we're definitely doing it this way yet, we still have time to decide. I just think it'll make life easier for my father and I.

prnt. dance and question

I am hoping that mid dance my brother will come out and dance with my mom at the same time, and FH's sister will come out and dance with his dad during their dance....opinion though, his mom and dad are divorced, and the dad is remarried, do you think its wrong to have them out on the dance floor together, even though they are not dancing together

jpsgirl...and everyone

I think that would be fine to have them on the dance floor at the same time....it's not like you are having them dance with one another. I was thinking of doing the same thing...having my bro dance with my mom about half way through...but he only has a brother so now I'm rethinking. I guess we could still have my bro and mom dance and just have him and his mom dance alone???? What do you guys think?
