Someone told me that it is a custom to buy your parent's gifts for the wedding. Is anyone doing this?

We did... nothing too crazy though since we were broke. i bought them a beautiful framed picture with a poem....basically a letter to them from me on my wedding day. also bought them embroidered handkerchiefs for the wedding.
some people go much bigger like vacations, a weekend getaway, broadway show tix, etc.

We are! I am looking into a vineyard tour and a bed and breakfast for them.

We're giving them gift certificates to restaurants and personalized thingies from this site
