parent gifts

parent gifts

So my FIL's aren't helping out with $.01 of this wedding. My parents are paying for my dress, shoes, and 90% of the RH. FH and I want to give my parents a weekend in Manhattan or a small trip as a thank you. I don't plan on getting anything for the FIL's. Is that right?

Oh, and my parents are paying for our eparty and they bought us the swarovski toasting flutes.

I was wondering the EXACT same thing...my parents are paying for my dress and e-party, toasting flutes and a few other minor things. FMIL deserves NADAAAA. but thats just in my situation...curious to see what you girls say

I agree, they don't deserve anything lol I was thinking if anything we might just give them like a gift cert to a restaurant but I feel like they shouldn't get anything. My parents are busting their asses to help us out (all the while my mom's hours got cut at her job and she only works 2 days a week) and his parents haven't offered anything! FH keeps saying 'well she's in the old school mind frame where the bride's parents pay' I said BS - she knows we're paying ourselves!

our parents don't even want the parent photo albums that are included in our photo package. my parents & FMIL are both helping with wedding costs and they all want us to save our money. so they will be getting parent albums & thats it.

i think its okay if you get your parents a bigger/better gift...but i would just give it to them privately instead of making a big deal out of it.

My mom is the same way, she can't really afford to pay for a ton but she will definitely contribute as much as she possibly can because she knows FH and I are paying for the whole thing. She actually feels terrible she can't just write us a huge check and pay for the whole thing, but I appreciate the thought that she would if she could

Totally, it's the same with my parents. When we talk about payments to the RH and everything my mom always says 'I wish I could just write you a check for the whole thing and I'm sorry that we can't' but the fact that they're helping us out as much as we are is such a big relief and weight off our shoulders.
