OK so FH and i were thinking about what to get our parents for the wedding. My parents are not very 'chachka'- like (im pretty sure i butchered that spelling lol). Our idea was to buy each parent (4) tickets to something they would like and FH will go with his parents and I will go with my parents. For example, my dad is a huge yankee fan, so we are thinking of buying 2 yankee tickets and I will go with him this way I could spend some quality time with him since I am moving out and wont see him as much. For my mom it would be a broadway show, FMIL a book reading (FH would go with her) and FFIL ranger game tickets.
Do you think this is a good idea? The only thing I'm worried about is that it isnt really a gift from BOTH FH and I. It kind of comes off as a gift from me to my parents and a gift from him to his parents.
Also, does it seem selfish that like I get to go to a yankee game and a broadway show too when it is supposed to be a gift for my parents instead of me???
TIA for your opinions!

Re: Parental gifts
For DH's parents we got 4 tickets to see Jersey Boys so we both went with them. They LOVED it. Not just the show, but going into the city and spending the whole day with us. I think it would mean more if it was something you could do together.

Re: Parental gifts
My dad and his girlfriend really like the movies, so we got spent 100 dollars on movie tickets for them.
My mom and her boyfriend, and my DH's parents we got them gift cards to restuarants we thought they would love. We spent the same amount, just differnet places
ETA: i think its a great idea to personalize the gifts! Me and my dad have season yankee tickets and i can tell you its a great way to spend time with your father!

Re: Parental gifts
I am having a hard time with this also, only becacuse my parents are helping pay for the wedding. Is it wrong to give them a larger gift?
What do you get someone who is helping pay for the wedding?

Re: Parental gifts
We are giving each of our parents gifts for a 'night out on the town'
We spent more on my parents but the theme is still the same so that FH's parents won't be offended

Re: Parental gifts
I think if your parents are married (it's not clear from OP, sorry) you should do 4 tickets of things and do you and FH and both your parents, and then you and FH and both his parents, so they can spend time with you both as a couple. It might be nice to do 4 yankee tickets and 4 show tickets if you can swing it, or try to pick something that both parents would enjoy....does that make sense?

Both of our parents contributed to the wedding, so we are getting them the same gift...i dont think it would be wrong to get your parents a bigger gift if they helped pay and his parents didnt, i dont know though, maybe im wrong lol

Re: Parental gifts
I think it's a great idea and a good way to get quality time in w/each of them.
But I also like the idea of you and FH going somewhere w/each set of parents.
