Parental RANT!!

I have been asking my parents to come up with a list of people they wanted to invite to the wedding for months...but to no avail. I get crap like 'You know who to invite...' But then when I start calling out names its 'Oh no not them...not her...ehhhh...no not them...'

Cut to now...Ive given up on them giving me names, FH and I just handed out our stds, and now that I have all of 5 left, my mother asks me tonight if we have room for about 30 people from her job!!! Are you kidding me?!?!? Ontop of that my father comes home with a stack of addresses written on everything from business cards, torn paper and even a napkin...totaling about 15 more people... My mother sees this and trims her list down..to 26 people...gee thanks Mom. From 30 to 26. Am I really related to these people?!?!

Yeh my FMIL is dropping that same line to me also. I had included about 20 people to her list but then she calls me and tells me to add 70??

AND I dont even have names. So I know excatly what you are going through.

Give her a limit and keep pushing her for names!! She's eventually give in.

is it possible to just be honest with parents and tell them how you feel? are they the ones paying for your wedding? If not, I think you can be as honest with them as you just were with us...JMO, HTH

My parents havent given me that list, yet. So we are hoping by the end of september to know the final count!! Or at least who they would perfer to invite!

I guess I’m lucky my parents can’t think of anyone to invite…I don’t know what I’d do if they came up with an extra 70 people!!

Yikes, tell your mom to do more trimming. Are you and FH paying for it yourselves? You have every right to say no then. My parents are pretty good about it. There are a few of their friends that I told them I'd like to invite because they have known me for a very long time. FMIL is a different story. I'll deal with it as it gets closer though.

ughh my parents were like that as well

and my mom works in a doctors office- she wanted to invite every single person who works in the office= I WAS LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!

And my dad still has not given me a list of people he wants to invite from work.

And it took about a month to get a list from FH's mom. And they dont even have that big of a family. His brother just got married last august and she still had the list from his wedding why couldnt she just give me the same one!!!

But after freaking out we had too many people on our list. We only about 15 above our minimum so I am kinda nervous....allowing my parents to invite the man they talk to at Donkin Donuts to my wedding lol JK

so sorry i hope you can talk to them and work something out. explain that you dont want all these people you do not know at the wedding maybe they can trim it to a table each??

Ugghh- that s*cks. This is how 100 person guest lists jump to 250 person guest lists in seconds. Tell them you NEED the info and give them a deadline of when you need it by so they know you are serious. Tell them that anyone added after the deadline is on the B-list. Hopefully that gets their butts in gear. Good Luck. (especially with those little pieces of paper- haha)

I made sure to get a list early on from both my parents and FILs. We needed it for the e-party also so they had no choice. Im sure my list will jump up about 50 people though..haha It is always the way!

My parents are like that too. They encouraged me to have a smaller wedding to save money, then gave me their guestlist of 90 people (not including family)

My parents were good with this...his parents were NOT!!! We are paying for everything...his mother is still in shock that my parents aren't paying. She gave us 40 names & we told them no way. We sat down with that list & went over them. All family stayed - but she had a list of 10 friends that my FH had never met...NO WAY. We told her that and she comes back with - well i bet your mother had a list...and i said yes - and my parents are prepared to pay for their guests if we're having issues at the deadline... Her reaction - OH WELL, then - put just the two of us down then - we're not paying for ANYONE...

Yes we are paying for the entire wedding ourselves. My parents procrastinate so much and they are so unorganized. (Unless it was their party, then it'd be on spreadsheet or something ) I already told them theyre going to be highly upset when I dont invite ANYONE they want to invite because Im tired of chasing after them for info.

I swear!! Our minimum is 200, (which we've already gone over ) Considering we're getting married on a very odd day, I wasnt worried about having too many people, but now Im looking at all these names....
