how soon did your parents meet each other after you got engaged. due to certain circumstances beyond our control(health issues, schedules) ours are meeting tomorrow.
nervous. FH and I are taking them to dinner so this way each set of parents didnt have to worry about who arranged it.

Close to 3 years. My parents are in NY and FHs are in SC. But they had talked on the phone
ETA: Dont worry, I thought I was going to die of heart failure. My parents are young and his parents a little older. They ended up having a grand ol time

my mom was my fi's 6th grade teacher!! small world! so his parents have known my mom for a long time!
but the first 'official parents meeting' was after 2 months of dating.

It was like a year after we met... his parents had a BBQ and invited mine... Now they talk a lot... I'm very close to his Mom and he's very close to my Dad... we are very lucky that it worked out this way, I see a lot of people who can't stand their future in-laws.

I love my FIL they have become like parents to me. knock on wood that everything stays this way LOL. Just nervous about the first parents meeting parents meeting. Envisioning Meet the Fockers movie even though I know it won't be anything like that LOL

Is his mom a hippie sex therapist? Was your dad in the CIA? Don't worry, everything will be fine!! Think of it this way.. You and your FH get along very well, you get along with his parents very well... it would only be natural that they would get along with each other. Relax and enjoy the dinner.

our entire families met at our engagement party, with FH's parents threw at their house.
we were engaged april 24, after 16 months of dating, and our party was 2 months later.
it actually went very well! best of luck!

About 5 months later when we had our engagement party. FIL's live upstate, so there was not opportunity before then.

My FMIL met my folks 3 months after we moved in together (before we were engaged). It would have been a lot sooner than that, but she lives in OH.

our parents met about 2 weeks before the wedding
they live two hours apart.... my parents own their own business and go away a lot, and his dad is a pilot and goes to work sometimes for weeks at a time, so it was really hard to get them together before then.... i would hvae liked it to be sooner, but what are ya gonna do? but when it happened, it went very well- my parents had them over for lunch, and they got along great. don't worry!!

Our parents me 2 months afte we got engaged, which was close to 6 years after we started dating! His parents live in NY while mine live in MA, so it was hard finding a time when they could all meet. When they finally met, they loved each other. My parents came to NY for the weekend and we all went to see our hall for the wedding. Then FH's parents came to my parents' house for the 4th of july and had a great time. Now, in august my parents are going back to FIL's house because we're having a joint birthday party for my FH and FIL. So both sides of the family will have met each other before the wedding. I like it that way. I think it will be more fun! Don't worry, everything will work out. I thought our families would totally not get along, and that really was not he case.
