It says that a patron who cancels this contract prior to scheduled date of the affair shall be liable for the entire overheard and profit lost by caterer for such affair...blah blah...either way I think I lost my deposit

Hmmmmm, hopefully it's not more than your deposit that you will loose I would contact them and see what they can do for you since you booked it only three days ago......good luck!

There is a law in Suffolk County that will absolve you for the full balance. It will probably be difficult to get your deposit back.

yeah you really need to find out. Many places you have to still pay a percentage of the wedding. But if you really liked the place then i am sorry but i think thats what matters. Its your wedding, not theirs.

Re: PARENTS DO NOT LIKE RH!!!
I think you should keep it the way it is. Not everyone is going to be 100% happy about the RH. Even if you have it at a castle that costs 400$ a head...someone always has something to say. I know its your parents and its alittle bit different but Im sure it will be fine, just give it some time. If they make you change it, then you should make your parents pay for the money you lost out on! Good luck

actually just reading this now, sounds like you are losing more than the deposit, sounds like you will have to pay a decent part of what the wedding would've cost. Many contracts have percentages depending on how far in advance you do this. Some are 50% some are 75%, depends.

Re: PARENTS DO NOT LIKE RH!!!
Wait, isn't this YOUR day? Do you like the RH? Who cares if its next to a diner, heck mine is next to a moving company, but its the most beautiful place to us. Tell your parents that its going to cost you $ to cancel if thats the case and see what they say to that. Good luck.

Re: PARENTS DO NOT LIKE RH!!!
are you talking about Majestic Gardens??
A good friend from work got married there and has nothing but really nice things to say about MG. Have your parents go back again since you and your FH like the place. Maybe do a tasting?? At first my dad didn't like East WInd because it was 'so far away' but after going back a few times and having a tasting, he knew why we liked it so much. Good luck.

Re: PARENTS DO NOT LIKE RH!!!
Are you talking about NRC? I was not too happy with the whole location thing either, b/w the diner and the Nissan dealership. However, I went to my friend's wedding there and it was one of the best I've been to and I can honestly say I've been to weddings at a vast majority of the venues on Long Island...anywho...we loved her wedding so much we booked ours there too. It's worth every penny in my opinion. Maybe your parents should go to a food tasting?

Yeah, but the RH has to attempt to mitigate their damages... which means they have to attempt to rebook that night. If they do, you CANNOT be liable for the entire amount of the affair... You could only be liable for the difference.
Now you're just getting into contract law which gets pretty tricky... So, your best bet is to call the RH and see what you can do. Likely you will only lose your deposit. You could also try to get someone else to assume your contract...
However, like others said, if you love it, that's what matters...

Re: PARENTS DO NOT LIKE RH!!!
I think the RH location should be up to you especially if you and FH are paying.
