Today is going to be the first time that my mother and step father meet my FILs. I'm kind of scared because they couldn't be more different. We're supposed to go to the Orioles/Phillies game in Baltimore so I'm hoping that it doesn't rain again. I'm really just keeping my fingers crossed that this doesn't turn into a huge disaster!

Don't worry I'm sure everything will turn out just fine. It's normal to get a lil nervous but just try to stay calm and everything will go smoothly .

I was freaking too the first time they met. It was a few times very briefly. Then we got engaged and we went to dinner. I was sweating the whole time we were there and drank a bottle of wine. I was so worried someone was going to say something worng cause our families are so opposite. Everything went fine and I worried for nothing.

It will be fine...the adults will most likely be on their best behavior anyway, because they probably want to impress each other anyway. Good luck with it, and I hope the rain holds out!

i'm saying good luck laura but i know you won't need it!! i think everything will go GREAT... trust me, my parents and FIL's could not be more opposite but they got along great. you find common interests and even if there aren't any-- they have you and FH as a common 'subject' and the wedding to talk about and be excited about-- believe me, i was SO nervous before they met so you totally have a right to be! but i think after it's all said and done you'll be saying 'what was i so worried about?' b/c that's what i said-- omg, they got along SO good FH and i could have just left and they would have been fine all by themselves.

AWww!! DId this a few weeks ago.. if they drink, buy them beers at the stadium! Its worth the $6.25 camden yards prices.
Our parents became self-proclaimed 'best friends' thanks to wine and beer!

I'm dreading this too. Even though FH and I have been together for over 2 years, living together over a year and engaged for 3 months our parents still haven't met. But I think we always envision it to be much worse in our minds.

Don't worry it will be fine. You two make each other happy and that's all that should matter. Fh & I were weird because his parents our 20 years older then mine, but our fathers got along great. The first time they met was totally uncomfortable -at my grandfathers wake! How weird is that?

Laura I remember how nervous I was too when the fams met Now everyone is super chummy.

Good Luck ~ I am sure it will be fine ~ my Dad and stepmom met my FIL's a few weeks ago..I was so nervous but at the end of the night... Everyone had such a GREAT time and they all loved each other ~ each parent welcomed the other into there family it was sooo amazing..then both sets of parents called me the next day to tell me how much they loved each other..

Good luck!!! I know how you feel, our parents met for the first time last weekend. I was so nervous because our parents have nothing in common and I felt like throwing up waiting at the restaurant but once we all got some drinks in us we all talked and had a good time. My parents ended up being only a LITTLE embarrassing which was better than I expected!!! I'm sure it will turn out fine and you'll be relieved when it's over!!!

***UPDATE*** Well, last night didn't go as badly as it could of. We met up in Baltimore for dinner and then headed over to the game. There weren't any akward silences and they got along pretty well.
