Re: Parents Poem?
Here are poems that I wrote for my parents and ILS.
For my parents: Mom & Dad – Coming soon is the day, I've dreamed of all my life. I will then be marrying, becoming Michael’s wife. I wanted to tell you how special, you two are to me. You have made me what I am, and am ready to be. That night I will sleep, with dreams of bygone days, My loving, carefree childhood, and of my childish ways. Then I will awake, with dreams of things to come, What my life will be, and who I will become. With the morning I will have, emotions flowing free, I just wanted you to know, I'll need you there with me Your strength and love will guide me, as I become the bride, As I start this precious journey, I need you by my side. As I stand with Dad, at the beginning of the aisle Please look at me dear Mom; I'll need to see your smile. Your smile and Dad's arm will help to steady me, As I take this blessed step, for God and all to see. I'll always be your daughter, and your love I'll always need, Though we are starting a new chapter, planting a new seed. Michael is my love, my life, my everything to me, And he will be beside me, as we tackle what will be. So right before my wedding day, I say these words to you, Hoping that you realize, you're in everything I do. On my wedding day I will pledge to Michael, my very heart and soul, You have helped to mold me, and he will make me whole. Thank you for all that you have done for me. Love Your Daughter, Lisa
For my parents: Mom & Dad – I know I don’t say it often, and you can’t read my mind, But as we get closer to my wedding day, I thought I should be inclined, To tell you how special you are, and you mean the world to me A son couldn’t have better parents, or a better family tree. I have always felt very loved, even when I was in trouble. I hope to pass on that love, to children of my own, The example you set will be hard to follow, but I will not be alone. I was once a little boy, that you raised with love and care I have now become a man, and my life I am ready to share. Lisa is my life, my best friend, my soulmate and confidante, There is no other person, that I could ever want. Soon we’ll be joined in marriage, for now and evermore, I’ll be armed with the qualities you taught me, and, am now, thanking you for. Please know that I might not say it, but my heart is full of love, For the things I have, but mostly for, yourselves that you gave all of. Thank you for all that you have done for me. Love Your Son, Michael

I also wrote these:
From me to my mom: I wasn't perfect I wasn't ideal I didn't clean my room I never made a meal I stayed out too late I talked back when I shouldn't I wanted to test my wings And got mad when I couldn't We are so much alike My mother and I We argued too much Did not see eye to eye I couldn't wait To be out on my own To try out the ropes To be fully grown You were never afraid To speak what you thought You knew what I'd done Well before I got caught It wasn't until I was out of your home I realized what I missed When I started to roam A friend, a companion Who would always defend Giving love unconditionally A love that didn't end Even when I wasn't Perfect, ideal, or good When the going got tough I knew I always could Turn to my mom With her good advice Even now I turn to you As I become a wife I thank you so much For all that you've done For what you have made me For what I've become Now I'm proud of the fact That I am so like you I hope that I continue to In all the things I do I hope that when you see me You can smile with pride As Dad walks me down the aisle As I become a bride These words can't express Just what you mean to me But I will strive every day To make sure that you see I only hope when my day comes To be a mother too That I will be as good a mom As great a mom as you
From me to my Dad: As westroll proudly down the aisle your mind will race to earlier years, When I used to skin her knees and you wiped away the tears. Where did those tender days go, am I ready for a new stage of life? And what about that cavalier young man, is Michael ready for a wife? This time you'll give me up for good, not just a Saturday night. I know that you hope that all me needs are met and that this bond of love is right. There's so much that I'll have to learn when the ups and downs get rough. Like patience and forgiveness and I know that you hope I'll have enough. When we are almost at the end of the aisle, it wil go by much too fast. I know that you will need more hours than this to fondly remember the past. When I let go of your arm the feeling will tugs at your heart. But you knows that even Michael's love will never replace your part. You've done your best to let me grow and play the role of guide. I'll be your daughter forever so today I can be the bride.
