Parents--yours, his

Does anyone have parents who like FH/DH's parents and invite each other over and do things together? I do. I am heading over to FH's for his name day celebration with my parents. Our parents are like friends now

My parents have met his mother twice in six years for less than five minutes each time. My mother is still waiting for her to return teh two calls that she placed when we got engaged 03/2002...

Yeah, that'll be the day! My parents think JT's are from another planet! I would have to agree. But lucky for all you girls who have parents like that!

My parents invite my FI's mother over for holidays because A) They are nice and B) she doesn't really have anyone else. (I, however, could do without spending holidays with her )

I feel so lucky that my mother in law and mom are so alike. They get along wonderful and we often do join family holidays now!

FH's mom passed away a few years ago so it is just him and his dad. We include his dad in all the holiday and family celebrations, because they don't have much family. It works out well because I have a big family. My mom also recently made new cornices (sp?) for the windows in FH's dad's house and helped out in their redecorating efforts. It is a great relationship, I am very lucky.

No, my parents are in Florida... when our mom's met I thought I was going to kill either FMIL or myself, she just does NOT know when to keep her mouth shut. I'd like to keep them as separate as possible

My parents and I are at FH's right now and FH and I are in the basement with our friend, while our parents are chatting. Our moms will most likely do dress shopping together. This is how family should be

Oh yeah, a name day celebration is a party for your saint's day (i.e. FH's name is Krzysztof, Polish for Christopher and so he celebrates St. Christopher's Day)

My moms in from PA and we're going to his parents for a BBQ today. My parents (both sets of mine) get along well with them. My dad loves his grandma (and vice versa). THey don't see each other much, but I can see my mom hanging out with his mom if she lived closer.

The first time our parents met it was like they had all grown up together or something - they have SO much in common. From day one they were like old friends - we feel very fortunate.

even growing up...both sides of my family were very close (even in different states) - weddings, holidays, anniversaries...

so my mom has continued this with DH's family...my mom just had an 'opening' (lol - her word...) to the addition to their house and invited DH's LI family...she has gone to showers and holidays there (my dad doesn't socialize much)

BUT...my BIL's mom is not as friendly...(I think more shy than anything) so the relationship is not the same...

Not a chance, I can barely stand to be around FIL/MIL so I wouldn't subject people to them unless I have to.

Although DH's aunts and uncles are very friendly and warm and invite my mom to their house with us when we go over and we have had all of them over together as well.

our parents don't like each other very much

It's OK both FH & I get along with my mom & his dad..... his mom is another story.....we get along, but it takes effort

Nope! They have major jealousy issues with each other over me and the children. My MIL and I are closer than My mom and I so that ****es off my mom. I love both my dad and my FIL but they have this little rivalry going over my kids. My parents are divorced and hate each other. I have Father's Day every year and invite both dads and all 3 of our brothers.
