Does anyone know if there is a passport office you can go to in order to get your name changed instead of having to mail in your marriage certificate and having them send it back to you? I only have my original marriage certificate. I tried to get certified copies from the county clerk's office but it took 4 months to get a response back from them, only to tell me that there was a small grammatical error and they could not process my request. I am going away in a month and I don't have time to resubmit my request for a certified copy of my marriage certificate and I don't want to part with my original. Any suggestions?

Re: Passport Name Change Question
I know that there is a passport processing center in downtown manhattan, but you have to call to make an appointment first, cause they won't let you into the building otherwise. I'll try to find the # for you.

unfortunately, you have to mail it in. I think the only time you can make an appointment to go in person, if you are in need of your passport within 14 days. And I think you have to show proof that you are traveling within those 14 days.
I had to mail my original certificate.

Re: Passport Name Change Question
At the last resort, you can still use your passport with your maiden name as long as your plane tickets are the same as your passport.
