Passport Question....

I started filling out my passport stuff....but umm I used my current last name and not my future last name...

Which one are you suppose to use?

B/c I don't want to pay 100 bucks for something I'm going to have to change like a month later....

Re: Passport Question....

you can only use your married name once you have the marriage liscense...if you are using the passport to go on your honeymoon, then you need the passport to have your current last name. Your name won't be changed at the dmv or the social security office until after you have your licsence.

Re: Passport Question....

From my understanding your name change does not come into effect until the paperwork has officially been processed. I am not too sure how long that takes. Are you going on your honeymoon right after the wedding? Wont your bank records, Social security and credit cards still be in your maiden name? Being that you are leaving out of the country I dont think you should take that risk. Also I know when you get your passport you have to show proof of name/identity. IF you have a few days b4 you leave you can always do the express order (I did it in a day) and show your marriage certificate as proof of identity/ name change.

Re: Passport Question....

I think your current last name. It takes a little while to change your name on all your other documents and I am sure you need your passport for the Honeymoon.
They are going to ask you for ID when you apply for the Passport and I am 99% it has to match everything else.

I don't think you have to pay another $100 to change the name when the time comes.

I am still using my maiden name just so I dont have to go through all the trouble beforehand

You can change your passport for free up to one year after the wedding.
