Passport questions

Passport questions

OK - I am going to go to the post office later and get the forms for our passports for our HM - but here, as usual, are my list of questions:

1. How long does it take to get your passport?

2. How much does it cost (the application portion)

3. If I get the passport before I'm married, my maiden name will be on it. What do I do after I get married and my name changes? (Yes - that Leslie weirdo woman would approve)

Thanks in advance, you magical, knowledgeable, genius women you!!!

Re: Passport questions

well, we applied for ours back in Feb and still don't have them. They said they should arrive next week.
The cost is $97 (I know, craxzy!)
There is a form to change your name after marriage, and its free if you do it within a certain amount of time.

Re: Passport questions

You could aslo pay extra to get your passport in like 2 weeks. I did this four years ago and it cost me over $300.

6 weeks. Thats how long it will be. You should have enough time, but go soon, just in case there are problems with anything.

Yes... I am replying to your post... LOL

Your passport must match your plane tickets. So you will have to have your maiden name. You can change it later.

Re: Passport questions

I applied this past Saturday. We are going to Tahiti on June 12th. We did it at our local post office.

You can download the form online (google it, not sure of the website) and bring your birth certificate and a picture ID, and of course 2 colored photos (CVS, Ekerd, even some of the post offices).

The lady said it can take as soon as three weeks and no later than 6 weeks for the cost of $97.00

If you want to pay a little more, $140, they can rush it.

By the way, they keep your birth certificate and mail it back to you with your passport.

NOTE: You must a town or city birth certificate, NOT a hospital one.

GOOD LUCK

Yes, must be in your maiden name if your plane tix are.

You can change your passport to your married name with no additional charge if you do it within 1 year. You must send your original marriage certificate with it when you change it.

I'm in the process of making this change now.

ahh..I hated sending in my original birth certificate and then I'm gonna have to send in the marriage certificate? I haven't heard of anyone losing it but it gives me a lot of anxiety!
