Passport renewal

Passport renewal

I just realized that I need to renew my passport because it will expire right before my wedding. I hope that all those brides who are HM'ing out of country look at the expiration date. I'm glad I did

Re: Passport renewal

Karen,
Here is a question for you. My wedding is May 10, passport expires on July 3rd. Most countries require that your passport is valid for 2-6 months after the date of entry.
Do I:
A-Renew now and have a passport in my maiden name for the next 10 years?
B-Can I renew using my soon to be last name (I think I know the answer to that dumb question).
C-Renew after I return and bring a copy of my marriage license as an expanation. (Again, probably a dumn question).

Can you tell I am cheap/lazy and don't want to have to renew it twice!!!

Re: Passport renewal

LNP, when I went to Mexico I used my birth certificate with raised seal & my photo ID (driver license).

sparkette, i'd double check with the place that renews your passport for a precise answer. maybe where you are traveling to only requires a birth certificate + driver lisense, this way you can use that & renew after you are married.

Re: Passport renewal

My HM destination requires a passport. Many places do not. I agree with Jenn about the renewal check with the issuing agency. The most common mistake that is made with passports and honeymooners is that the ticket is in one name and the passport in another. As far as the 2-6 month rule is, if you are not intending to stay that long, which is declared on your immigration slip I don't think you have to worry..but again check with the issuing authority. I am renewing in my maiden name, my plane ticket is also in my maiden name. I am going to change my passport again after I come back.
