passport trouble...help...advice

OK...so we have to go to Spain...kind of emergency...to see MIL...there are big family issues going on...

well I cannot find my passport...and I am a little worried that I left it in NY...we are going to stop in NY for 1-2 days...but what if its not there...

heres my dilemma...the passport now is my maidan name...so I should make my tickets in my maidan name...but if I go to NY and cannot find the passport...and have to get an emergency one...I would have to make the passport in my married name...right? (did I mention...birth certificate is MIA...mom and I are arguing who has it)

so what should I do...
1. make tickets in maidan name...if I need to get a new passport...make it in my maidan name...hopefully I have a BC

2. make the tickets in my married name...get a new passport anyway...it was expiring in 10 months...

3. other suggestion


Please help...I have to call Delta and cry to them soon...

I would just go get the new passport in your married name and make the plane ticket in that name too...rather be safe than sorry

so I would have to go to the passport agency no matter what...hmmm...that might be the best option...to make an appointment now and just change it or get a new passport...

to get a birth certificate you need to call the town where you were borna nd have them issue an official copy of a new one.

ugh, thats a dilemma!

Call the airlines and see if they'd allow you to fly if the tickets are in your married name, with a passport in your maiden name with your marriage license. If so, then you're covered whether you have to get an emergency passport (in your married name) or find your original one (in your maiden name).

I know that i just flew delta and i havent changed my name on my licence yet and delta was like if your licence says one name and your ticket says another we wont let you on the plane so i had no choice but to keep my ticket that way.. i just thought i would let you know that.. they didnt care how much id i had...


you cant get passports at the post office anymore?

can I tell you how many times I've flown and the person checking boarding passes hasn't even looked for the amendment in the back of my passport! They just look at the picture and don't even match up the names! So much for safety!

Ok...well the BC has been found...

you can go to the post office...but I need to fly in less than a week...so I can't go the traditional route...


I think I am making it in my married name...I'll just go to NY a day earlier and sit and wait to get a new one...I needed a new one anyway in 10 months...

I know that the post office does have an express fro the passports. I think it's 7-10 days. I'd call them & check.
I do NOT suggest going to the place in the Manhatten. It can take the WHOLE day or even 2 days!!! I was there about 4 years ago & there were people w/ there luggage complaining that they had been there since 6:00am & their flight was in an hour. And the passport was STILL not ready!! It was PURE hell!!!!

We actually had to go last year for DH...the day before we left of course...but he washed his passport!! so the picture fell out!! but it did take almost a full day 8-2

I am actually going to the LA one on tuesday...and we are leaving Sunday

if you want, get it in your maiden name - otherwise if you don't you will also have to bring your wedding certificate. (my co-worker still uses her maiden name on almost everything and recently bought tickets with her married name - the airport had her bring the marraige license to verify it!)


sorry to hear about your problem - oyu know its probably somewhere 'safe' (thats what i do - and then i find it the day or week after i need it!)

There's a passport agency in stamfor, connecticut that gives same day passports. they are relatively faster than the manhattan one- i got my passport there on new year's eve one year.

I know I have it tucked away somewhere...but we still have so many boxes to unpack...that who knows where it is...
