What is the average processing times for passports these days? We leave on September 23rd for our honeymoon. We just picked up the forms today.

Re: Passports
It does not take 2-4 weeks. On the passport website for regular delivery it is taking up to 10 weeks! My fh put in his application February 12th and we still don't have his passport. Our wedding in in a little over 3 weeks so if by next Friday we don't get it then we have to call them and see if they can hurry up and send it!

They changed the law and as of January you need them to get back in, oe else. So everyone did it at once and they are backed up.

Re: Passports
you could always have them expedited: worth not to worry.
I had mine renewed in 1 day (with proof of tickets).

Yes we're both citizens. On the website it says it used to take up to 6 weeks for routine delivery. When I got mine 2 years ago it took me 6 weeks to get it back.

Re: Passports
Thanks girls. My Dad told me Hicksville PO is open all day. We can actually bring the forms there on Saturdays up until 4:30. Looks like we'll be doing that next Saturday!

Re: Passports
you should get them in time and you can pay extra and get them shipped faster and processed. When I got mine it came in 6 weeks.

Re: Passports
FH applied for his a month ago and the website still shows his status as 'processing'. The website also says that they are taking 10 weeks to process so if I were you, I would apply ASAP just to be safe.

Re: Passports
If you apply now you should be A-OK.
My FH will be renewing his in May (since we need to use it that first week) and we should be fine for our late October honeymoon.
Our TA confirmed that the passport agency is running MUCH slower than usual because of the crush of applications. Better to send it in now and get it back early than to be worried about getting an appointment (and getting off work!) to get it done in one day closer to the wedding.

Re: Passports
I know the website says a certain amount of time but I was told at the post office it depends on the amount they get and how fast they process them. The amount of applications are higher around this time of the year because people are getting ready for summer vacation. However if you apply this week - you should get them before your honeymoon

I did mine today and the post office said that theya re saying it can take up to 10 weeks but they have had a turn around time of about 8 weeks for the lst couple of weeks. She said that if you give yourself 10 weeks you will be fine!

Re: Passports
We just got our passports a couple of weeks ago. It took 2 months to get them back. The post office told us that now since so many people are getting them it is taking a little longer and it could take up to 10 weeks.

Re: Passports
File NOW!!!!! because of the changes at the beginning of this year, there is a BIG delay!!! now a passport is required for the Carribbean, Mexico and Canada... .so all those people that are going on cruises and never needed a passport are applying for them. I heard on the news that it's taking 2-3 months or more in some cases.
