The wait time is about 10 weeks- you can rush it if you have to but it costs double. You have time, so I would do it as soon as possible!

If you look on the Passport website, it's taking them 10 weeks to turnaround the application.

File NOW!!!!! because of the changes at the beginning of this year, there is a BIG delay!!! now a passport is required for the Carribbean, Mexico and Canada... .so all those people that are going on cruises and never needed a passport are applying for them. I heard on the news that it's taking 2-3 months or more in some cases.
it makes me a little angry...they knew this was going to happen so I think they should have been more prepared for this situation. It doesn't really affect me since I sent mine in with plenty of time, but still- be prepared people!!

You can go into the city and get them that day..... from what I've been told, it literally takes ALL day.. This is how I will be spending my friday
I heard to do this these days you need to make an appointment...just a heads up if you haven't done so.

You might want to consider paying to get it expedited.. dont forget they take your birth certificates for the application process which you wont get back til you get the passports. and you will need those to get your marriage license.

Re: Passports
I went to the post office and they said 10-12 weeks due to back-up and volume of applications.

Re: Passports
Just so everyone knows, you don't need an appointment at the Hicksville PO and they have Saturday hours from 8:30-2:30!
