We tipped in cash.. They already treat you like royalty down there but when DH tipped a couple of dollars.. FORGET IT.. it was unbeleivable.. they were at our beck and call.. It was late one night and DH was hungry and wanted pizza.. mind you we were sitting outside watching the show and it's like 1130-12 am.. well, he tipped them like 5 bucks and they turned on the oven and made us all at our table pizzas! lol
There are a few key people that you should think about tipping. #1 tip the bartenders and they will have drinks waiting for you by the time you get to the bar, #2 tip the maids a few bucks a day (they deserve it and they make next to nothing), #3 I haven't been to Secrets, but the last time I was in DR we tipped the guy who fills the mini-fridge, instead of filling it every other day, he came and stocked it every morning. Aside from that, tip anyone who gives you great service and you can be sure to expect that same quality throughout your stay.
