Past Brides.. anything you spent WAY too much on and wasn't worth it?
Just curious if any Mrs. out there have some advice on something they splurged on that wound up not really being worth the time/cost/stress?
TY!

buy too many extras. I not have a surplus of invites, save the dates, menus, programs. Just order maybe 10 to 12 over what your inviting. In all honesty dont do what everyone else does like expensive shoes, this that and the other thing on here. If your on a budget keep to it people wont really notice all the little things trust me.

I love this site so much I still come back and visit. My answer would be flowers. My bouquets and centerpieces were gorgeous but the thought of spending so much on something that was not going to last forever was heartbreaking, kind of. The price was still in my range though. It all depends on the type of flower.

In response to why you might not get many responses, I hardly check the BBB board anymore, just NW section. I don't think past brides don't want to talk about weddings, I just don't know if the NW board is the place to do it although I don't know where else questions could be posted---maybe there should be another board for this!
I guess if I had to say one thing, I spent $300 on my hair alone and it ended up falling out before the cocktail hour started.
I actually can say that I didn't spend way too much on anything else, we decided what was most important to us and what wasn't. For us, we spent the most on our venue, our band, my dress and flowers. I skimped on paper (made programs myself), didn't do favors (did a donation), and chose to get married on a Sunday evening instead of Saturday night.
Also, i didn't do things like Channa plaque or flip flop baskets--they just aren't my style and a waste of money in my mind. So try to keep those extra expenses that are unnecessary to a minimum.

I'm sorry the newlyweds treated you that way. They definitely have their own clique going on.
Anyway, I spent way too much money on RB pillow and FG basket and my veil. HTH!!

Thanks for all the answers ladies!! I am actually debating to do my own hair after already spending over 300 bucks on failed trials.. I want a pretty simple down style... so I will start experimenting! FG basket I went cheap and borrowing my cousins RB pillow.. I def. did not wanna spend alot on those.. Love all the responses!!

we spent way too much on video and pics. i liked our pics and video but felt we paid way to much and wasn't thrilled with the end product. there was nothing special about them but i love them because they're our pics and memories.

Hmmm well I was all gung-ho on buying the personalized matches and cocktail napkins. I waited for a sale, sat down with my mom, chose all the designs and everything, added it to my cart, put in my billing info and then my mom said 'You do realize you are about to spend x amount of dollars on paper and matches, right?' And I cancelled the entire order. Nobody missed it and I put the money to better use- costumes/props for the photobooth!
ETA: As for the NW board- I get some people don't want to talk about weddings anymore. I personally don't mind, but I also always try to come over to BHB to answer any questions I might be able to help out with. We're not all intimidating though.

i'd say definitely shoes. i ended up buying 2 pairs. aside from a few pictures during the 'getting ready' portion, you couldn't even see them.
also the 'mrs. g to be' sweat shirt. wore it 2x during the HM, and now it just sits in my closet.
one thing i don't regret splurging on is flowers. a lot of people say they will die, no one notices, etc. we got a TON of compliments on our flowers, and they totally helped to create the mood/ambiance we wanted.
