just once for me...i waited to the last minute to do it, i had to have a final head count in by tuesday for a friday wedding so after that if they canceled they still had a spot

Just once too...I waited til the last minute too so that I wouldn't have to redo it 1000 times! I had a general idea of where people would be sitting so it wasn't that bad.

LOTS! We had alot of cancellations within the week of the wedding. I had to change our place cards that I paid to have professionally done and hand write some of them! Even the day of the wedding there were people who didn't show up and we got stuck paying for all those dinners.
It really stinks, but it happens and there's nothing you can really do..

I am nowhere near this point of the wedding planning process, but I hope that I won't be changing tables more than once. I think it's incredibly rude for people to back out of attending a wedding with such little notice! People know how much weddings cost nowadays and there's no reason (unless there's some sort of true emergency) for someone to back out.

i had set out preliminary tables about a month before the wedding but i set up two alternative scenarios for the 'sketchy' people i would up going with the first scenario even though we had a couple of cancellations in the few days before the wedding
