Past brides,

If you could do your wedding over, what would you spend less money on this time around?

That is a great question...i really planned my wedding on a budget and found some amazing vendors at a great price. I thought i would ask myself after the wedding what should i have spent more money on. Even my little splurges, Favors, Grooms Cake was all worth it. Everyone i hired was amazing and i have not one complaint. Still waiting on photos so i cant speak for my pictures yet.

I think I did good on flowers, photo, music, gifts etc as far as a budget goes. Well I basically had to make sure I didn't overspend in these areas because I chose to have my wedding on a Sat night in the summer (doesn't get any more expensive than that). Sometimes I think to myself- should I have had my wedding on a Friday night instead or maybe on a Sat night during the low season. I probably would have saved between 5k and 10k doing that but can't live with regrets.

That's my dilemma now when to do the wedding-Friday night, sat night (what I really want) or sat afternoon

I'll answer only because I'm a second time bride...

For my first wedding I spent too much on my flowers and my photogrpher/videographer package. This time around, I'm not making that mistake again. Minimizing the flowers and going with a florist local to my venue and I cut out the video and got the simplest photo package in order to get a phenomenal photographer! We are get married at the reception location so I was also able to cut out limos. I'm just going to pay for car to transport overnight guests to and from the hotel on the day of. Also, we opted for passed Hors d'oeuvres instead of carving stations for the CH and that cut the cost by almost $20 per person.
Because of the money we are saving from those things, we were able to get a photobooth as a little splurge!

ETA: Because of the type of CH we chose, we were still able to do a Sat. night wedding for $75pp (before tax & gratuity)

I think I spent too much money on the things that are really incidental to the actual wedding or reception - personalized hanger, bride kit, channa plaque, garter. All of these things enhanced the wedding but were they necessary?....not so much.

Extra's like personalized napkins, matches, cry packs, cigars, slipper baskets, channa plaques, place cards, hangers. I love all this stuff because they really add a personal touch to your wedding, but I dont think they would be missed if I didnt have them.

I also opted for a February date over a May date, we saved $8,000 doing so :)

All the little personal extras are what makes your wedding your own...i got great things off etsy and also a channa plaque...worth every penny and got tons of compliments on how our wedding was so us.
