Past Brides: Registry question

Past Brides: Registry question

Is there anything you are especially glad you registered for (outside of the regular stuff)?

Is there anything you registered for that you wish you hadn't bothered with?

I'm fixing up my registry this weekend and some advice would be very helpful. TIA.

Re: Past Brides: Registry question

hummm, thats tough, I guess the item that I use the most that I love is my little Brew and Go coffee brewer that just brews One mug at a time, since my FH doesn't drink coffee I only need coffee for myself in the mornings and this little coffee machine works great. It's not expensive at all, but I just love it. We also use the George Forman Grill. I think it's also important to get a silverware set (large set) we registered for casual dining ware from Bloomingdales and I'm glad we did, even though I'm not using them until we move into a house, but I'm glad we have them and one of these days we will have a big dinner party to use them with our dishes.

Our knives!

The everyday china...placemats & linens.

Honestly, I loved everything we registered for and received.

I had mixed feelings about registering for my good china. I am so glad I did! My Mother talked me into it. She said that one day I would want it and I would never have a complete set if I purchased it myself.

I was so grateful when I did Thanksgiving dinner and my table lookled wonderful!

I am also glad I registered for my Foodsaver Vac thingy! It is awesome and I use it all the time.

The Henkle knives are a good thig too.

I registered for a punchbowl from Crate & Barrel and a beautiful Waterford cake plate. I knew that these were both things that I would never buy for myself, and if I did not receive them as gifts, I wouldn't have bought them after the wedding. I may not use them until I have a house, but I got both of them and was so excited when I opened them up. Register for at least a couple of extravagant things that you love and wouldn't buy yourself.

I was ok with everything we registered for, I just wish there was a way to prioritorize everything. We got some stuff DH put on the list that I didn't think was necessary (like a $120 garbage can and $65 cutting board) but didn't get some of the things I really wanted like pieces of my china.

Our knives!

I agree. The best gift we definitely received were our knives. I have no idea how dull my old set were.

The cuisinart and my kitchen aid were definitely at the top of my list. I love cooking so having good pots and pans has also been a major plus.

I am really glad we registered for our Kitchen-Aid stand mixer and our Chicago Metallic Bakeware set.

I could have done without the fine crystal candlesticks I registered for, but who knows, maybe I will use them when we have a house and do some formal entertaining.

Two things that are really expensive and I hope someone buys is the Dyson vacuum and the Ionic Air Purifier.

Salad spinner! Best thing ever. And a mini vaccum.

Things I think could have been left off my registry:

Quesadilla maker.

Re: Past Brides: Registry question

Glad I registered for:
1. great knives
2. nice bedding
3. good cookware
4. China
5. Crystal

Sorry I registered for:
1. Martini glasses & Margarita glasses that are huge and fit no where.
2. Everyday drinking glasses that are huge and fit no where - I ended up returning them and getting normal sized glasses. Never even crossed my mind until I tried to put them away.
3. Both Pyrex & Corning Ware sets. I ended up keeping the corningware and returning my pyrex and just getting the pyrex pieces I actually wanted & needed. The sets had too many things I wouldn't use or were too similar to be of much use.

Should / Would have registered for:
1. A really good vacuum. Because we only have one rug (in the bedroom) and we live in an apartment, I got a mini-vacuum and it's just not as good as a real heavy-duty vacuum.
2. The 6-Quart KitchenAid instead of the 4 quart

Oh yeah, and the pots. We registered for Kitchen Aid pots - LOVELOVELOVE them. Seriously, the 5-ply's make a difference...things heat up in a fraction of the time.

We actually bought the knives ourselves this past weekend. They were expensive and we didn't expect anyone to buy them (we hoped! LOL) but by having them on the registry, we were given 10% off from Fortunoff. Way cool deal.

I was so happy to have my China on Thanksgiving and we use our crystal almost daily (guess my drinking can't be kept secret any longer.)
