Past Jericho Terrace Brides VH Question

For all of those who already had their wedding at JT did any of you have the VH? Did you like it? Was it worth it? Do you have any pictures? Either to post or in albums? TIA

Re: Past Jericho Terrace Brides VH Question

i had VH at JT. However i did it a bit different, instead of them bringing out tables in the middle of the dance floor. I asked if i can do it in the same room as the CH room. They said yes BUT maitire'd did say that normally they dont like to do this bc its alot more work but said not to worry i felt bad at first and said oh forget it then just do it on the dance floor but he said its fine and he will do it, and when we walked in they had all the lights off and had red candles votives all around. It was also great bc each thing had their own station. I LOOOVED IT!!!!! alot of our guests after told us how much they loved the popcorn, even took bags of popcorn home and candy apples home. The waffle bar, chocolate fountain is always a big hit, cotton candy.

I dont have pics yet, i will have video of it bc our videographer filmed it as we walked in. OUr dj announced they had a surprise in the other room and then all the guests followed, well dh and i were first and videographer was ahead of us, it was real cool how they did it and different too which i liked.

For me it was worth it, but i dont think its something that is a must its personal preference. Ive been to weddings without a VH and still had an awesome time.

TY so much I am so torn. I was dead against it and now I am kinda wanting it. Your description makes it hard to say NO lol. Sounds like a sugar filled dream. Thanks for the help I appreciate it!

im having it - im having it on the dancefloor though, for some reason i like when they bring in all the carts my FSIL had it a few years ago at JT and its the only thing that i really remember from her wedding which must mean it was good i think they added a lot of stuff to it since 4 or 5 years ago though - we are getting things like popcorn and cotton candy like denise said and i dont remember her having that....

its my favorite so it was something that i really really wanted - i dont usually enjoy dinners at weddings, so i always look foward to goodies and wanted a VH at our wedding

i've been to weddings and still had a great time without the VH..... HOWEVER(lol) i will say, the VH at Jericho Terrace is above & beyond amazing. The do a phenomenal PHENOMENAL job.. it was something i was told to definetly not skimp on being that our wedding was there - and i am SO glad i didn't! it was so impressive and guests still rave about it if u can swing it, definetly go for it You will not be dissapointed! I differ from denise where we did have ours in the reception room...mainly because our reception was held in the penthouse room which is all the way upstairs..i liked it this way just because guests didn't have to go downstairs to another room. they brought everything right there & i got to watch everyone get excited for it lol plus, like i said, u can get right up from ur seats..and u better believe people will be going up for seconds!

it depends if you can do it though so keep that in mind. WIll depend what room you are in and what else is going on that night ya know. By some miracle i was the only wedding there that night, someone cancelled their wedding in the dome room i think so thats why. My room was also the room that is connected to the CH room, i was in the skylight terrace so made it easier for guests to go in there, otherwise if you are upstairs for example then guests have to walk downstairs to go to VH so not sure if you want that.

Again, i dont think its something that someone MUST Have at a wedding. THere are pros and cons, a VH will stop the party for an hour so another thing to remember, we added an extra hour on top of the vh so our wedding was from 7:30-1:30am, if we wouldnt have added the extra hour then i wouldve felt like the reception is shorter as far as partying thats why we also did it in another room bc this way the dj is still playing and whomever doesnt want to go to VH can stay and dance on the dancefloor. Plus the costs do add up, at $15 per person it can get pricey especially if you have a large guest list. I was rethinking it at first to tell you the truth after i had already booked it. The reason why is bc at other weddings, ALOT of ppl left right after VH thinking the wedding was over and meanwhile there was still about an hour left. THis happened a couple of times. But after lights go on, then eating dessert and coffee ppl decide to go home

Thanks Girls. I have another question and it might sound silly....

I know they call it a VH but is it really an hour? Doesn't that take away from the party?

I mean you have to stop the dancing for so many things.

i too actually added on another hour...making our wedding from 8:30 - 2:30...if you don't do that, i think it would MAJORLY shorten your night...

aside from that, honestly in my experience a venetian hour is something most look forward too & are excited for. I don't in anyway think it would take away from your wedding. I do however (like both me & denise said), think if u're in one of the upstairs rooms u should keep it on the dancefloor to get your money's worth. If people have to treck up & down stairs, i can't see many people doing it, and this (imho) would take away from 1) the party & 2) the VH.

other than that, it's fabulous. i promise you it's something ur guests will leave raving about. if anything it will only add to the party

YES and i just posted about this above. Like i said, i went to a few weddings in 07 that were after i booked my RH and added on the VH and after going to those weddings i was really questioning myself whether i really wanted VH or not. Luckily i decided to stick with it bc i wasnt able to take it off at that point. But for example another wedding i attended and funny thing is that it was at JT, they had VH BUT there was still a full hour left AFTER vh. They had the VH with the tables come out in the middle of the floor. After ppl finished their desserts they went home. DH and i stayed but after the VH, they turned the lights off again and dj started playing music again but i would say 80% if not more of the guests had went home by this time. MANY had no clue there was still a whole extra hour left to the wedding so thats why, then others just wanted to go home after. Same thing happened at other weddings i attended. All i kept thinking is that i would rather keep dancing and keep the party going instead of having a VH to stop the party. We attended a wedding in nov of 07 and there was no VH and we danced ALL night with no interruptions, it was one of the most fun times we had at a wedding, but also bc we knew alot of ppl there and had fun.

SOME weddings though the wedding ends after VH so its not bad then bc not like guests will miss on a whole hour after the vh

im glad the day of i enjoyed the VH, even though i didnt really have anything hahaha and my guests seemed to really have enjoyed it. Which is good since before the wedding, a big part of me was wondering if i should have even gotten it, at the end of the day it turned out great

our reception starts at 8 and we are ending at 1 - our CH is also an 1.5 hours - we added 30 mins to CH and 30 mins to the reception

Thanks girls for your insight. Adding an extra hour eeeeeeek how much will that set me back?

I too am in the skylight room.

I was going to have a candy bar do you think the VH and candy bar is too much?

i wanted to do a candy bar so bad!! but only because the hubby & i are known to be full blown candy-holics lol. We never ended up doing it... although WE wanted it there, it was definetly not missed...the viennese at JT is about 45yards of dessert...so it's definetly not a neccessity - just somethin' more for fun!

the VH at JT is amazing. i worked there from '01-06. its definately worth doing... if youre in the sky see if they can do the vienese in the terrace cocktail room... it'll probably be more though, but it looks awesome. either way, i would definately go with vienese, without a doubt. they have chocolate fountains and cordials and espresso stations and its just fantastic.

Do they clear everything off of the dance floor in enough time to continue dancing and do the last song of the night or is the last song done before the VH? Our's is from 7-12 and I was wondering how they would do that, and if dancing just ends at the VH.

weddings ive been to, the bride and groom cut cake, then the VH starts - the dancefloor is cleared, everyone is sitting, they bring everything in on the dancefloor (we are actually asking for 45 mins only) then they clear the carts and dancing resumes...usually there is still time left for the party - we are doing it so that we still have an hour left after the VH - that way, for the most part, the older people will still be there for the cake and VH and if they want to leave after that they can (our wedding is late, going to about 1am) - and then we have the last hour to party hard....

Thank you I was hoping that we would still have time to dance afterwards.
