Patken, Proline and Duet girls...I need your help.

FH and I met with a photog yesterday (not Patken, Proline or Duet) and we were impressed with everything EXCEPT for the fact that they wouldn't give us a price for a package in the meeting - they said that they would e-mail it to us.

Needless to say, we walked out of there excited, only to receive an e-mail this morning with a price LITERALLY double of what we want to spend on photography. It's not even a price that we could negotiate down to about what we can afford to spend. And while our photog budget isn't huge, it certainly isn't small, either. (We got a quote from another reputable photog company that was much more along the lines of what we were looking to spend, but FH wasn't 100% feelin' them and wants to search around a little bit more)

So before we book meetings with the above places - Patken, Proline and Duet - I'd like to know if anyone would be kind enough to share with FH and I what kind of price quotes they've received. We're looking for something basic - our album, parents' albums (possibly...I am crafty enough to dedicate time to get a pro one made from another website), thank you cards. No video. (Seriously, the quote this place gave us is more than other places have advertised for photo AND video...and this quote was only for photo! Geez!!!)

Obviously, please FM me.

Also, if anyone else can recommend a place to look that's a company and not an individual, please let us know. (We're too nervous about booking an individual in case they have, say, a family emergency or something...it's a lil too risky in FH's opinion, and that's fine by me)

the package from duet without video would probably be far less then your budget.

You ladies are AWESOME. FH was all frustrated about the photog situation (um, we saw only two of them...) so I told him I was posting something on LIW for help...when I showed him the responses that I received right after the post (I had about three), he was like WOW that was fast!

I told him that LIW girls are the bestest.

And then I log on this morning and have a ton of replies in the thread and in my FM box!

Seriously. You all rock!

I have a feeling that you might get a pkg without parent albums right wear you want to be with Velvet Studios. We really liked them, they were the lowest price we got, but we just like Duet's style so went with them. I have to look when I go home for lunch and I will FM you!

We met with Patken (we should have met with proline and duet) and a bunch of other less known photographers.
we ended up booking patken on the spot because they offer you $200 off if you do. Their work is great, but honestly I'm thinking back feeling like it was the least personal experience we had, we still don't know who our photographer is. But I promised FH we would only meet with X amount of photogs and thats the number we saw. and he's happy with them.
After tax I believe our package (with video) is around $4000. We can build up our package after the wedding, which we plan on doing.
