Patken....did we get ripped off??

I think the price is high because of the plasma screens. When I was shoppping around for video, FH and I were told that each screen was priced between $500 and $1000.

I am also using Patken (only for photos though) and I think they are competitively priced.

wow...that price seems very high!

i'm paying about that for photo/video and am getting a 100 print digital coffee table album, large prints (16x20, 11x14, etc) 2 parent albums, 100 4x6 TYs, 5 fully edited DVDs with chapters, etc. so to only get a 30 pic album seems crazy.

why get the plasma screens? if they're so much money, wouldn't you rather have a bigger album that you'll have forever? if it's what you really want, go for it, but it seems like a very high quote for very little

hmmmm 30? we are gettin 90 w/ Duet...plus tons of pics and for that price 5k that was also video

They are charging you 2,500 for the montage? My DJ was going to charge us $600!!

When we went to patken John wouldn't put us down for more then 30 pics. He said that it's cheaper to order them after the fact. Other photographers told us it didn't really make a difference.

THEY ARE CHARING US $1000 FOR TWO SCREENS

I don't want to say you got ripped off.. but if you're feeling that way - that's probably what happened. I'm getting a lot more for my $5000 (I have a different photographer). If your not happy, I would go back and talk to them.

When I met with Patken their work was beautiful but the packages seemed light compared to other people i had met with.

I would say go with your gut. I am using different vendors and getting photo and video for less than half of what you are paying. If it doesn't feel right to you, then it probably isn't.

That does seem a bit high. I went to Patken because my sister and cousins used them and I was very turned off. They were nice but everything was an add-on after the fact. No. I want to know the final cost now. Otherwise, it adds up. I saw some photographers whose add-ons were over a $1000!!!
We're getting the storybook digital album with 85 pics, replica parent albums with changes as each parent wants, we get to help design it and say how we want it laid out, the 16 x 11, engagement shoot, all our thank yous, proofs and videographer who will also go and film the engagement shoot and include that along with a baby pic montage for $5400. The videogrpaher was $1895, so my photographer was actually on the cheap side (about $3500) and we absolutely love him!!! Great personality, beautiful pictures. I just hope we love him as much after the wedding as before!! Oh we're also getting the raw footage of the wedding and 3 dvds with the highlight section.

We had previously booked with a horrible place and left a $941 deposit. I got that money back. It's your wedding an dyou have to be 100% happy. If you're not, be persistent. No photographer wants bad press. I do know many people that loved Patken though, but it's totally your call.
