Pavillion at Sunken Meadow

Has anyone ever gone to a wedding or visted the facility at Sunken Meadow? I am thinking of having a reception there and want some feedback on the place. Thanks in advance!

I didn't have my wedding there but I did have it at another Lessing's location. The food was absolutely wonderful as was the service. I think it looks like a neat place to have the wedding -- right there on the beach.

Pavillion at Sunken Meadow

My parents visited it for me when I was looking for a reception site. They didn't like it for these reasons: --the boardwalk is open to the public therefore strangers are wondering through your reception (the band/DJ sets up on the boardwalk which attracts passer-bys) --its smaller then it looks in the picture, depending on how many people you have they may have to set up a tent (which separates guests) --they felt it was too much like a cafeteria - great for more casual affairs but not an elegant wedding Keep in mind these are just their opinions for the type of wedding I was looking for. If you are having a very casual small afternoon affair (The party must end by dusk - park closes) - it may be perfect for you. Good luck

Pavillion at Sunken Meadow

My friend and I peeked in at it one day this May to look at it - without an envent. It is pretty far down that no strange people were down that way and it was pretty busy on the board walk...but it is very cafeteria like...It is the same building the consessions stands are (Jones Beach, Robert Moses)...and there is only that one big room...the boardwalk is available but if it rains I doubt many people will leave it out... You do also have to be out of there by the time the park closes (sundown), Ive heard Lessings is good, and the price is good, but I would check it out first (I had a completely different picture in my head before I went)
