Re: paying cash
I actually asked my photographer about doing this and he said that they would never do that and that no repitable(sp) company would. I think my palce is just very straight laced. It doesn't hurt to ask though. But b/c he wouldn't do that he did take off like $600 of the package price for us

Re: paying cash
good idea, lol! we are doing that for the rings. and apparatly (according to our DJ) there is no tax on entertainment. so we dont have to worry about that. i should ask the other vendors if they allow that.

Re: paying cash
My sister paid for her entire wedding in cash, and she saved a lot of $$$ by doing so, just be sure to keep your receipts very well organized!

Re: paying cash
Ladies....
you are the best. I don't know why....but I was alittle concerned about paying cash. I asked 2 photographers and they agreed to it, especially because I will be living in MD come wedding time.
From your experience, is that something that should be noted in my contract. CASH = NO TAX.

Re: paying cash
We are doing that with our florist and photographer. Whenever we would get the final price, FH says 'Can yuo do any better for cash?' and they usually can.

It's pretty much a general rule...Cash = no tax...I don't actually think its 'legal'...so I don't think they would put those words on your contract...but the amounts should be all figured out and listed excluding the tax before you sign.

Re: paying cash
Most vendors do this and it does save you a ton of money. However, RHs practically never do it -- its too small amount of money in the grand scheme of things for them to risk their whole business on. It is illegal for them to do it and many wont take the chance. You can ask (we did at ours) but dont bank on them saying yes.

My friend paid cash and she didn't get charged on tax... I guess each vendor has their own rules... Doesn't hurt to ask...

Re: paying cash
This is SO good to know. FH and I were planning on using cash just because. I'm happy to know that we actually could save because of that!!!
