so i know with most of my vendors, i always asked about taking off the tax if i paid cash as im sure most of you did and most agreed, some didnt
well i never thought to do this with the biggest one of all, the rh

i don't think an RH can.
the smaller guys can b/c they're providing a service i.e. florist, dj, photog
i even went so far to ask about my dress and NY State has a law regarding tax that that can't be done either lol
alyssa i did this with my dress actually......what happens is you have to bring the dress shop a dress to send to an out of state address. so basically i gave them my CT address, had them send me my own dress and i saved on the tax. i still had to pay for the shipping, but i ended up saving about $400.
damn
Ohhh I totally forgot I did this with my shoes!!! I bought my shoes in Vegas and had them shipped to NJ since there was no CL store in NJ at the time they couldnt charge tax.

We paid cash for our RH and they didnt/couldnt take the tax off.
Whats funny though is that for our E-party we tried to bargin with cash and they told us NO! A few months later the owner went to jail for tax fraud and now the place is closed
Yeah they were such A-holes there. I laughed soo hard when I heard he went into the pokey!

you can probably still do it, my store told me i can do it as long as it is before the final payment....its worth a shot!

my hall took the tax off if we paid in cash. we knew the BM though so that might be why. we went to her wedding at our hall
they wouldn't do it for us. we even offered it in full and they still said no

We had no luck in doing this at all. We had huge luck with offering to pay in full up front. While this saved us a lot, there were two few vendors who we wanted to change before the wedding and had we just left small deposits it would have been easier than had we paid in full.

Not that I thought to ask but the only vendor who offered this up front was the videographer.
