so i know with most of my vendors, i always asked about taking off the tax if i paid cash as im sure most of you did and most agreed, some didnt
well i never thought to do this with the biggest one of all, the rh
did any of you negotiate with your rh that if you pay cash they will take off the tax??

Re: paying cash to your rh
I think we tried that but I don't think it worked; not for my eparty or my RH.......
I think since the RH costs so much, they have to account for it? Thats what Vetro told me.....something small like maybe a $1500 vendor could maybe get away with it but I don't think the RH can?
I could totally be wrong its only 9am! lol

Re: paying cash to your rh
my parents refused to pay any vendors in cash. my dad said its always best to pay the tax & have a good paper trail (canceled check or credit card posting).
he was randomly audited 15 years ago (luckily he always had his business on the up & up), & he said he would never wish that procedure on his worst enemy.

Re: paying cash to your rh
Most RH's will not let you, the reason is because its a money making industry, therefore they are audited every year and they must make sure all their ducks are in a row or else. The risk is just too high for them.
As for other vendors, I would not be concerned girls. Honestly if you pay cash, just make sure you get a receipt stating the amount you paid and how, and you won't have a problem.

We're doing this with our photo/video, but not the RH. I never even thought to do it with the RH.

Re: paying cash to your rh
should i even try? i feel silly since its not the norm and i dont want to seem like im trying to take advantage. it wouldnt be for the whole thing...im thinking of paying the remainder of my payments which would be like 2/3 in cash so i thought just on that amount. well see.
thanks everyone for your input

i don't think an RH can.
the smaller guys can b/c they're providing a service i.e. florist, dj, photog
i even went so far to ask about my dress and NY State has a law regarding tax that that can't be done either lol

We paid cash for our RH and they didnt/couldnt take the tax off.
Whats funny though is that for our E-party we tried to bargin with cash and they told us NO! A few months later the owner went to jail for tax fraud and now the place is closed

alyssa i did this with my dress actually......what happens is you have to bring the dress shop a dress to send to an out of state address. so basically i gave them my CT address, had them send me my own dress and i saved on the tax. i still had to pay for the shipping, but i ended up saving about $400.

Re: paying cash to your rh
I just made a payment to my RH last week using cash. The first few payments i used a check but i ran out of checkbooks lol so until i get new ones i asked my RH if i can pay cash. They said yes as long as i wasn't paying cash for the final payment.

I never thought of this. We're paying everything in cash so I will be sure to bring this up, not with the RH but everyone else.
