Paying For Kids At The Reception

Original post by eden

My reception hall, Westbury Manor, just told me that kids 4-10 who need to eat at the reception table will be charged half price.

And they can eat what the adults eat or eat the stuff on the kid's menu.

I have 6 kids from 3-7 at the wedding.

Most of the kids come from family and they don't know that if their kids eat, even a bite of chicken finger it's going to cost me 50 bucks. Should I tell them, or just suck it up and pay for the 6 kids, even though they will probably be stuffed eating during the cocktail hour and won't eat much at the reception?

Anyone have the same dilemma? :(

I also am getting married at Westbury Manor & am probably having A LOT of kids!

What my BM told me was from ages 4-12 we would be charged $50 per plate once our minimum was met.

we have to pay half for the kids too - i wouldnt say anything to the parents it would probably make them uncomfortable - unless it is someone, like a sister or something who would understand

i wouldnt say anything to the parents....if that was mentioned to me i would feel kinda insulted like you really didnt want the kids there....would def make me 2nd think coming to the wedding.....maybe give a less amount of kids than actually coming?

I wouldn't say anything to the parents either. I didn't think I would make my minimum and didn't really think it would be a big deal with regard to the kids - but I recently realized I am OVER minimum before the kids!
