I think it is absolutely absurd! Kids need to be motivated from within themselves not paid off! agh dont get me started!

dude if my daughter comes homefrom school with a good report and does her chores she gets a sticker for each thing......after 30 stickers she gets to choose a prize(my little pony or something small)

No one rewards me for coming home from work having done a good job lol, so kids should not be rewarded for something they are supposed to be doing.

Re: Paying kids for good grades...

I have to say that my aunt used this system. She had two kids who were being lazy with their homework and having difficulties with school so she started to give them $2 for every B and $5 for every A that they brought home. At first this was their motivation for doing their homework, but once her kids realized that they were capable of getting A's and B's, they started doing the homework for themselves and she slowly weaned them off the incentives.

I am not saying that this should work in every home or that laziness should be rewarded, but sometimes kids need something to get them motivated and help them build self esteem.

I see more of a problem with parents who could care less about their kids schoolwork than I do parents 'bribing' them to do their homework. At least those parents are trying to promote good grades even if they are going about it the wrong way.

My mom paid me in lifesavers.

My mom paid me with the emotional abuse of pitting me against my sister. That worked fine for me.

When i was younger my parents used motivation for me to stop getting bad grades and being lazy and to bring up my grades as well it was called a 'Belt'.

Unfortunately now a days, parents would get arrested for that. Parents aern't even allowed to discipline their kids now a days!
