Does anyone know who I can call to pay my taxes on my own and get them out of my mortgage? The mortgage co. or the town? Thanks!

right, but either way you are paying the taxes. I would rather pay it in installments than as a lump sum. If you take it out of your mortgage (which I'm not sure you can) you will have to pay it in a lump sum and semi-annually. You can pay the mortgage company the same lump sum or more to even out the escrow.

we didn't escrow the taxes. i would rather have control over my own money rather than the mortgage company. i have heard TOO many stories w/ escrow shortages. by paying the taxes on our own, i ALWAYS know how much i owe. in adiition, we earn the interest.
You would have to call you mortgage company. We don't have a mortgage on our house and pay taxes on our own. It works out just fine. But the town has nothing to do with the mortgage company collecting money for your taxes, you would need to speak with your bank.
