I went for another fitting today and the lady tells me that next week when I go back she will not be able to take a check from me but only cash or cashiers check I just realized that my Limo said the same thing. Both can only take a check if its two weeks before the wedding.
Does that make any sense?? I dont understand

Re: paying vendor question
Alot of my vendors told us that the last payment is cash only...no checks money orders, etc. The bridal salon told me the same thing also. So I wouldn't worry.

Re: paying vendor question
It makes perfect sense if you think about it ...
It takes time for a check to be cashed, hence the 2 week timeframe you mentioned.
They just want to be sure they have their money when you have the merchandise ... or in the case of a limo, before they perform the service you hired them for.
Once you have the merchandise/service, and the check bounces, they can try to fight you on it .... but they may never get their money from you.
Its good business practices on their part, regardless of if its a bit inconvenient for the customer.

Thanks for the info. I just wish that I was told that eariler for the Limo cause I hate to have to go to the bank to get the cash.

Check your contract...that's where it says it. If it doesn't then you have reason to not have to pay in cash.

We were told the same thing too, but it also states it in all of our contracts.

Re: paying vendor question
yes it makes sense. with a check - you are still taking a chance on it bouncing. most vendors (especially RH) will ONLY accept cash or a bank check. This way - the money comes out of your account IMMEDIATELY and does not allow the chance of the funds not being available...

Re: paying vendor question
What would prevent someone from writing a check that bounces? after you receive the service, they have nothing to hold against you. It is merely for their security of getting paid and not stiffed. More so, if you had a problem with the service, you can stop pymt on the check.

Re: paying vendor question
my last dress pmt had to be cash whether it was made at the last fitting or pickup
my limo co had a deposit on cc so i could have had them charge the cc or pay cash that day (which i did)
