payment and deposit bands
One of the bands I am considering (without mentioning any names) demands full payment 2 weeks before the wedding. Is this normal practice? The other thing is they want a 50% deposit by 6 months before the wedding. Is this a red flag? Without mentioning names what does your band require?

Re: payment and deposit bands
Ours took a 50% deposit, and we have to pay in full 2 weeks before also.

Re: payment and deposit bands
My Band (Stan Wiest) does not want payment until after the reception to ensure everything was what we discussed and to my liking.Edited to add, he does not want full payment but we did leave 50% when we hired him.

Re: payment and deposit bands
$500 down, then there was another payment of about $250, I haven't paid anything since. I think they need the bulk of it before the wedding, when I meet with them to go over the song list. And then the day of, we give them the rest.I should really get a handle on all my contracts!!!
I started off so good.

Re: payment and deposit bands
I would be very leary of a band that wants a lot of money up front. Many bands in business last year will not be in business this year. It's a sign of the times. You will then lose everything. It happened to a friend of mine with a videographer.
