My PC keeps crashing - the error message is something about the system shutting down and instructing me to save. The message is from NT Authority System, and is called a Remote Procedure Call
This is on my home pc
Is this some sort of bug? and how do I get rid of it?

Re: PC crashing - why?
try doing a search for it, using the error message, in google groups. others who have experienced the same problem may have posted to a newsgroup and gotten responses.

It must be a dell right? And chances are you're using MSN.
Call Dell support, they'll walk you through it. It's a virus.

Re: PC crashing - why?
I was on the phone last night with Dell for about an hour...they told me it was a virus and they walked me through something...so hopefully everything is ok now.
I'm at work now and the virus was here too...my computer gave me a very similar message to the one last night and rebooted itself after installing something automatically...

Re: PC crashing - why?
yeah thats a classic worm. from now on if you dont want problems like that. just go to microsoft.com and go to windows update. it will scan your computer and download and install all of the updates. there have been many many fixes for security breaches and internet explorer patches that are quite nessisary to be browsing on the web today. although this cant protect you from viruses ultimately, but it will make it much harder for you to get one.

I received that same message last night. Should I call Dell or will the Microsoft update fix it?

I'd call Dell and ask them if your computer has automatically 'patched' itself or if you need to do something about it...just to be safe...

Re: PC crashing - why?
if you have free tech support with dell use it always they will help you to stay within your warentee.
otherwise if you buit your own computer like I did then you should probibly know better anyway.
