Peanutbutter stuffed Kong OK for my 2 1/2 month old puppy?
Brainstorming on ways to treat Golem for going into his crate on his own and I heard that a Kong filled with frozen peanutbutter is GREAT for Rotties. He does love gnawing away at his Puppy Kong, so I'm just wondering if the peanut butter might be too much on his stomach? Also, would that make him have to do poops more?
My life revolves around his poop and pee right now! Thanks!!

PB is definitely fine but the kong scares me. I say this bc my dog chewed a chunk of an 'indestructible' kong and it got lodged in his intestines and we had to get it surgically removed. he almost didn't survive. i'm not saying this is normal but it was enough to scare me away from kongs for good (unless we're playing fetch and I put it away right after.) Good luck!

Bailey used to destroy the Kong toys when she was younger, we never filled them with peanut butter....what if they don't get it all? Does it attract bugs? We stopped giving her the toy for a while, and now she actually plays with it the right way, I would use the Milk Bone treats for small dogs and break them in half.

I think a puppy is too young for either the kong or PB.

Murphy can destroy ANY toy and his puppy kong is still in perfect shape. We got him a red one after he outgrew the puppy one but they are great toys. PB isnt the best idea for a puppy's tummy but you can shove a puppy milk bone in there and that is fine.

Thanks ladies!I read about this on one of the Rottie forum sites, but they might have been referring to the larger dogs and not puppies. I also thoguht that PB might be a bit much for a puppy tummy. So far, we've stuffed his Puppy Kong with the puppy biscuits and liver treats, but I just want to keep him interested in chewing on that instead of our hands/feet/clothes/etc. :) We're also rotating his toys so that he's never playing with more than three at a time, which helps with the constant distraction! ;)

Get the hollowed out bones from Petco. They're great - we've filled them w/ PB and cheese since our rottie was about 8.5 weeks. She loves them, it's never attracted bugs and they don't 'eat' the bone - just whatever you stuff it with. It's great (as per the vet and the trainer) and healthy and with keep your pup occupied for awhile. We give it to her as a special treat and whenever we leave the house. Good luck!Welcome New Vendors
