nail salons actually can't do it unless you bring your own, so if they asked you if you wanted it they CANT use one sitting at their salon. You have to provide your own. if done incorrectly, it can be VERY painful. But for the same results, my salon will use a pumice stone on my foot and let my feet soak in the water with this blue powder they put in. It feels like it just melts all the dead dry skin off my feet (sorry don't know what its called). It's awesome!!! It also helps to have them rub your feet with foot salts. Definitely safer than the razor!

I have my own Credo knife (aka. 'razor'). I always bring it w/me to the salon for my pedicures. I also sometimes do it myself.

i like the razor...it doesnt hurt its just a tool to remove calluses and they use a brand new one on each persons foot
no matter what they do my feet feel the same after a couple days..the razor you feel feel softer for a few more

hmm...they do alays ask me if i want cuticles cut...i beleive its probably illegal to do it without permission

It's illegal in NYS. It is in fact a razor..there have been some sanitary issues with that and that's one reason why it's no longer permitted. But it gives you a great pedicure!

I RAZOR MY OWN FEET BUT I ALWAYS TAKE OFF TOO MUCH AND IT HURTS FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS ... IT IS ILLEGAL IN NY STATE I USED TO WORK IN A SALON & SPA .... PUMICE IS ENOUGH UNLESS YOU HAVE SHANAYNAY FEET .....

I think it depends on what condition your feet are in...I do not use a razor (it does not hurt, and the salons change the razors in front of each customer)...I pumice my feet everytime I take a shower and at night I apply foot cream which keeps my feet soft...but if I needed to use the razor I would...

Me too - my feet always still feel rough when a pumice stone or other stuff is used, no matter what they do. I've always seen them pull out a brand new one for me and I love it - I have one at home too. It doesn't hurt and my feet feel great.
